Bras: Utilitarian vs Fashion

The choice in the bra of the day is a mood thing for me as well. Almost always an underwire for the daily support. And, most of the time it is unlined. Lace, bows, different fabrics, and in varied styles from mild to wild. It doesn't get all that cold here for most of the year, and I am not a fan of boob sweat. So I wear petals for modesty out of the house.

this is an interesting point to consider.

I am usually pretty pragmatic about this.   

but i too have come to see stylish bras as a desire too. 

And now I see shoes the same way!  But thats me.

A bra can be the perfect marriage of function and fashion. I've been shopping for and wearing pretty bras for decades. It's not like alot of people will see it or even notice it. I like the fact that I know what I have on and that it looks nice. It's the same reason why I try to wear matching panties. However, it's not always possible if I'm wearing a white skirt with a black top, matching my bra with my panties would be a bad idea. lol 😆

I wear hiking shoes, dress shoes and tennis shoes.  I quite enjoy spending a portion of the day in one bra then changing out into another bra as the day/evening activity changes.  I also enjoy a nice lace bra, spacer, plunge and T shirt.  I have gravitated more to the fashion end of all. I like colors and different materials.  It just makes me feel good.  When I do pick out a thinner one I do use nipple petals.  I do not, try to draw attention to the mounds.  I'm always going for the natural shape rather than the loud and proud.

Mine have been pretty much utilitarian.  I like pullovers because they are the easiest to conceal but I have tried several underwires which I found OK but didn't like that the hardware shows in the back. My bras are all tan, blue or grey. 
My wife was gone for a couple of days so I decided to test drive one of her Bali Lace Desire underwires.  It is a $40-50 bra, medium priced as bras go, but nicer than anything I own.  It looked good on me and it felt so nice I didn't want to take it off.  We are both 42s so I can wear her bras, but I plan to order one for myself and go down a cup size since I don't quite fill the ones in hers.  Sometimes you just feel like wearing something pretty.

That's a nice, comfortable and pretty bra.  I had to jump a cup size and did replace mine in that style with new ones. One I too forget I'm wearing.  It shapes without adding bulk. Nice colors also!

If you need or want to wear a bra for support of your breasts I personally feel that you should also try to have the shape that you want. Underwire bras are not for everyone however, with an underwire bra, you actually end up with a lighter bra and lesser band width because the underwire provides much more support. It's kind of the same idea as a steel building as opposed to a wooden building. Less material and more strength.

Some of us need, appreciate and like the steel framing in our bras also! Nothing like a nice bra with a steel girder.

Some "fashion" bras are more for looks, but some work as well or better than "utilitarian" bras

I’m not sure about fashion bras. But I have stepped out of my comfort zone with different colors now instead of just white and black. I have pink, blue and purple now.😃

One time seeing my fitter I asked her about a bra and she said, unless you are looking for a date, she won't get that bra. I asked her why and see said, "All looks. No support. And it isn't comfortable. It's all for giving you something you don't have." Said that wasn't what I was looking for.

I have found that having accepted the fact that the need is there I quite enjoy colors, styles and fabric uses to be nice.  No one in the general public sees it but there are times I like to look and dress smart.  Makes me feel good about it.
