Maybe time to get fitted

So I’ve been on a weight loss journey and as of late I’ve been having to put my bra on the last hook but still feels a bit lose. The cups are still filling but I guess I’ve skimmed down everywhere else..except my chest lol.. I’ve always fitted myself or my wife so I’ve never had a professional fitting.. but highly considering it. Ima try to call around and see who would be comfortable with fitting a male with moobs. 
But that being said what’s been y’all’s experience with getting fitting? How did you go about scheduling? How was the experience? Did you partner/wife go with you?  
I currently use a 44c or 42d so curious as to what my size would be.

You can surely call for an appointment, but I usually just go right in. If the SA's are busy I just browse for bit until one is available. 

I always get measured at Torrid. 

I have always had wonderful luck at Torrid and their products. ☺️

Same thing happened to me. I lost weight but didn't lose breast size. I went from a 42C to 36DDD and a fitting helped me find what size I needed.

I went to a department store.
I phoned ahead as I  didn't want to embarrass  myself or the sales assistant. 
I was given a time when it would be quiet and the name of the assistant who would be expecting me. The rest is history  and now I  will often go into specialist boutiques on whim if the window  interests me.!
My first  fitting was a very pleasant experience and on subsequent visits to a number of shops I always been received with the utmost courtesy

Been using HD sports bra

Went to Torrid for a fitting while on a trip

Went in alone and treated well got a good fit

Wife was surprised when we met later and I had a different shirt on. It took her about 10 min to realize something was up and reached into the collar to find a strap . She was amused
It was a pullover longish line heavy fabric  that is suitable for cool to cold temperatures, which it was when I bought it.
Summer hit and back to sports bras, when I started to grow again ( side boob mostly) using old measuring methods I got a few bras from Torrid and Amazon but never hit the sweet spot on cups.
Wife said she will take over sizing from here with local merchants.

Will be passing through Spokane on a trip in a few weeks so I will stop at Soma for a fitting. I need one as the side boob is becoming problematic and I realize the projection will increase. Unaware how this will affect her but at my age I don’t worry about it. Have gotten a few stares at the gym this week and noticed a raised eyebrow or two
A fitting is the way to go.

My band size is the same as yours but I have a bust of 49 to 50 with a wide set and wide base, it’s tricky

I just went to a local boutique for a fitting solo. I called before I went to confirm they accepted men just in case. The biggest thing I learned that by going that you finding things that "aren't in your (typical) size" or perhaps a style you might not naturally gravitate to but works. If you can get over the anxiety of the situation, it's all in your head (I know...), it can be a good experience.

Well I’ve call the 1 boutique we had in town and was just straight up denied.. lol they said no they don’t take men..I called the local torrid and was also told no.. tried Dillard’s and JCPenny and they don’t have a staff member to offer that service atm.. and I don’t think I fit VS sizes so I see no point in trying them.. 
suppose I can give the tape a try again myself and have my wife help me.

The Torrid employee that denied you can get in trouble for that since 30% of Torrid customers are said to be male and SA's are told they will be assisting male clients as part of orientation.

That's unfortunate Carlos, I'm sorry to hear it. Soma does fittings, too, if you haven't tried them. I don't know where abouts you are, but perhaps there's a fun road trip in your future?

If DIY is the only/best option, it sounds like you really only need to get that band measurement right. I've found that measuring at the end of an exhale, but not going too snug, gives you a nice fit. At that point, every two inches you lose on the band size your cup size will go up (looks like you know that already with the 44c/42d bras you own). But if you're down to 38 at the band, you'd be a DDD/F cup size. Then it's just finding the right 40DD or 38F, because there are no standards!

No soma here sadly. I called all the big retailers in my city. And was shot down by either understaff or just plain no we don’t service men.I do have a measurement tape that will try when I get home. I just need to rewatch the videos and learn cause I’ve completely forgotten how to do it. But Jesus being a 38DDD is crazy..never in my life growing up did I think I would be in the situation.. I’m not up set about it. I’ve embrace it mentally to the best that I can. Having a supportive wife has def made it easier tho.

Check out the A Bra That Fits calculator. It works for me. Having lost 50+ pounds and down to the regular weight 150 lbs for my height (5' 5"), I'm a 38D. This will given a realistic starting point for sizing yourself for a bra. https://www.abrathatfits.org/calculator.php

Not picking an argument  Joni but as in all things YMMV.
A Bra that fits was wildly out for me. The worst worst of all I tried.
Personally  I  would advise fixing on a brand, getting that brand's size  chart and then (perhaps the most important) check the manufacturers measuring  technique. Some measure above the breast as opposed to horizontally around  the fulness of the breast, wearing bra or not.
One even says to add 4" to the underbust measurement  before consulting their  charts! What and why?? Why can't they rectify the charts?
As with  all things bra related it is a minefield.

A Bra that fits had me as a 38DDD, but my first and only fitting at Dillards found me as a 38D! But now that I'm down to 152 lbs, what I'm wearing (36D) coincides with the result on that calculator. So, yes, YMMV...but it may depend on how much weight you're carrying around your chest...and your male rib cage? Whatever the case, I agree that trial and error is the only way to find your bra. If your on Amazon Prime, they have a Try-Before-You-Buy option for bras.

That’s What I’ve did before. And it’s worked out okay. Went into a department store before and secretly tried some on there but felt like I was doing something wrong.. so Amazon prime try before buy was a life saver
