Very good to hear your progress with yourself and the home front to embracing what is logical to manage breasts...a bra.

It quickly becomes a normal routine to put on a bra in the morning and actually forget you are wearing one for most of the day. It just works and fades into the background, particularly when one no longer has concerns about wearing one in public.

By contrast, one becomes more aware of their breasts if they go braless for some reason.
If the bra fits, wear it.

I'd recommend trying Glamorise underwire sports bras.  No padding, underwire, conventional hook, and wide side band underarm.  Make sure the band is tight enough, after 30 minutes you won't even realize you are wearing it.  Too loose of band will actually be uncomfortable and won't stay in place.
The one sports bra I've tried wasn't very comfortable so I went with a variety of bras. Minimizers and just generic ones and were comfortable and resolved my back pain problems. The ones with the fabric I prefer over the foam type that enhances what I have which is not my goal.

I did some research and from what I've read back issues and having D sized cups are a thing and a properly fit and adjusted bra has proven to work so...  I've been wearing one of my bras now since the first post and my back which typically makes me gobble down pain meds (Nothing narcotic just OTC stuff) almost nightly to not needing anything at all so bravo to my new undergarments.

My wife went through a short period of wondering if I was suddenly going to announce I was transitioning *I'm not.  I think she gets it as our short stint of just going to bed to sleep is over and its probably difficult to imagine your husband transitioning if he is doing man/wife stuff in bed with you? Anyway one thing I resolved was to not leave my "unmentionables" hanging out in clear view and I'm not announcing my wearing a Bra since she resolved that this was her problem and that I didn't need to just suck it up with the back pain and toss my Bras. I guess I'm still a little concerned when we are hugging that its obvious I've got a Bra on but so far she hasn't commented and I'm wearing one daily.  I think my gut is (sadly) large enough to mask my "boobs."

So I guess I'm reporting success in all respects. (Knock on wood)  Thanks for having this site and you folks that have made this all less weird.

42D-what,

Good to have you here.  Yes there is a lot of knowledge here.  And you will get and see there is a plethora of bras out there and as many recommendations.  From the pictures provided I think you show a nicely shaped and well rounded chest.  I wear a 40C Wacoal Back Appeal bra as my go to.  I also like the shaping of my 40D wacoal Visual Effects minimizer bra.  I like wacoal brand because they offer many styles that shape and conform to each breast as they are often just slightly different in size.

I hope you find peace and comfort in your search and acceptance.  Finding a well fitting bra that gives you a nice shape is great.  As noted after putting it on I forget I'm wearing it.

Thanks Parity its nice there is a place like this to make everything less weird. I now think that as someone posts Bras are for people with breasts not specific to just women. Or words to that effect...

Reminds me of an experience in visiting a Baracks of Canadian Sailors and the wide variety of underwear. Everyone I arrived with wore Navy Boxers but these cats? Wow... Bikini, skin tight, a few with reflective gold material. It clued me in that we were a tad prepressed in what we thought was acceptable and thus this has maybe been less weird to me. Seeing how well its delt with my nightly back pain I guess I would not be that keen on listening to some phobic comments from someone not that assured of their own maleness.

Yep!  Its only been a couple weeks but its the morning routine to put one of mine on and during the day I do tend to just forget I've got it on. I'm going to pick up groceries etc wearing one and I'm just not inclined to let this ruin my day. If people look at me weird let em I don't think its worth my time to get bent out of shape. I think it being sweater weather it would take someone with Bra Radar and lots of imagination to think I'm wearing a Bra.

For most folks "bra imagination" is reserved for observing women, not men... so you'll be safe.  I've never experienced someone scoping out my breasts when I'm wearing a brassiere and I wear a 42C brassiere as I stated previously.  Enjoy life... wear a brassiere and if you feel so inclined, enjoy your breasts.  Nothing wrong with that... many of us do.

You’d be surprised at what people don’t see! I’m a full 40 DDD and yes, for the most part wear a pullover sports bra, but even when I’m in a regular underwire, I don’t get caught very often. Even when I do, it’s usually just a glance down and a smile from the occasional woman. Very few people see and even less care. If someone ever asks just tell them it’s a back brace. 👍😁
Tired of being uncomfortable so other people are comfortable.

Ha... I think I've grown a thick skin now that my wife is no longer weirding out about bras. I've really appreciated the lack of back pain that a good one provides. It feels pretty normal actually. It helps that other then this 18 hour playtex that has sheer windows above the breasts they are all pretty generic (not overly feminine / lace bows etc) and all but the one sports bra are basic black which matches the T shirts I wear most of the time. Although now its getting cold again so its sweaters which aid in not making it too obvious I'm wearing a bra. A bit bothered by my upcoming doctors appointment. She has done breast exams now a couple times because I noted some weird lumps around my nipples and I sort of half expect her to initiate that at my "wellness" visit.  Having survived DREs for every year when I still had a prostate my embarass fuses are totally blown with her for the most part. I'm inclined to just tell her I've started wearing a bra for my back (Which is the truth) and ask her if this seems reasonable then I don't have to dress down before the appointment? Or am I really just over thinking this?  Would a female doctor be even slightly weirded out by someone with 42Ds needing a bra? I kind of think no... What do you all think?  BTW anyone else find a bra helps them with back pain (In particular lower back)  Its probably my imagination but I think I'm slouching less. Ha!  Oh sorry one more question. What do you think of a "long line" bra in as far as helping provide support and maybe working even better for back pain?  Sorry I keep thinking up "one more question" but... Does anyone notice their nipples sticking up more with a Bra? Maybe they were always doing this but I didn't notice without the bra?
