Yeah Hungry tides. I had my first bath on the Friday following Surgery.
It was a day after my drains came off I guess.

However I did not want to wet the sutures. So i had a bucket bath of warm water and not an over the head shower bath.

With the bucket and mug Bath I could control the pouring and  direction of the water to all body parts except the chest.

From below the navel it was a normal bath but the chest area, i did wet sponging with  warm water and dettol ( take a mug of water put 3 drops of dettol ..it becomes whitish milky in color..Then dip a soft cloth or sponge and gently wipe / disinfect your chest.

If your skin is of oily type then use soapy water carefully or a shower gel.

The challenge is washing underarms with soap and not wetting your sutures on yr nipples.

after that take a seperate head bath with shampoo  ensuring water doesnt spill down your neck on your chest. You can do that by bending your head  forward over a sink away from your body ( forming a 90 degree angle  with the floor.)

As for your neck and shoulder area, sponge bath alone with dettol water

If you got your parents or any assistance ask them to sponge your back as well. If not you will have to ignore your back for a while. ;)

The Bottom line is not getting your sutures wet.  If they do  get wet,
then pat dry then with a clean sterile cloth..... Use a hairdryer ( thats what I did) on low setting to dry your sutures for 1 minute only....Then apply Neosporin ointment and cover with fresh bandage pad and tape it to your chest..The same way it was taped before.

Try to avoid wetting the sutures ( stitches)

My ADVICE to PROBLEM MAN is you are a big problem yourself...

All the time pestering people about how much percentage of gland removal  was done.

Doctor knows best how much to remove OK.

If you have a habit of pestering people then better go to another  PS.
Bcoz a person like you most probably will never be satisfied with any surgeon. So why risk you spoiling Dr.Anatheshwars mood or fame.

Think about it deeply.... >:(

You are free to answer or reject any questions man. you don't have to be so rude in this support forum. The reason i asked is bcoz i have high estrogen levels, and according to the forum guys, if 100% of the gland is cut, then gyne won't return. The Estrogen medication itself takes a lot of time, so i thought i will have a short-cut this way.
The excision percentage was written in hungry.tides sig, but i didnt observe it. so i ended up asking an already answered question.

I should have discussed these questions with the doc, but thought there was no harm in asking. And i really don't think i was pestering anyone here.

@hungry.tides: yeah i got the pm. i will consult k.j shetty next month along new set of Estrogen and LH tests. Currently i am off Tamoxifen, so i have to wait for 1 month for tamoxifen to completely exit my body, otherwise the hormone tests will end up being invalid.

i added the %age after your question, so dont feel bad abt that   :-\

We are all here to help each other, so dont mind such small thingies, lets focus on the bigger goal.

Coming to your estrogen tests, why not go to Dr K J Shetty straight away? tell him all that has transpired, starting on Tamoxifen, stopping ....et all

He should be able to guide you.

I will tell you what i felt after i had my surgery, i felt i should have done it way back, dont share this experience any more

my two cents  :-\

Hi Hungry.tides, I was looking at your post-op pics.. what i heard from the plastic surgoens that I consulted, the incision will be made in the areola border for semi-circle size. but in your case, especially in the 7 day post-op one, the incision size is more than a semi circle (would say more than 75%)..
is it normal?
Did he make this incision to remove only gland? or fat alsO?
did he make any incisions below your armpit to remove fat?
i reqest bloregynacomastia  and moob sucks to comment regarding this.

well buddy, you are making me reply to these silly posts.

so far,  i have asked you guys only 2 questions here, 1) about the percentage of gland excised and 2) question about hiding drains. Both were important and valid questions for me, hence i asked them. Yeah, i asked both you and hungry.tides the same questions, so bloody what?? Different people have different opinions. like you had 100% of your gland excised and he did'nt. If you don't want to answer then plz keep quite or ignore the question, you are acting like as-if you run this place.

In the future if you don't like any of my posts..then plz ignore them, this is my request. And i hope you will stop this little fight here.

Fine Mr. Problem.....We will end this Problem (or rather Fight as you say)  RIGHT HERE  and I will ignore all your questions from now ons as per your request. Happy now ? ...

Make do with whatever you can from others.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes Tony.....Let me start by saying There is no hard and fast rule for surgery.

The size of the incision depends on how wide an opening the doctor needs to feel  able and comfortable with  cutting through the breast tissue and pull out the gland thru such a small gap and also perform the liposuction from the same gap.

You chest is not same as mine nor Hungrytides...So the incisions sizes and procedures will  differ a bit even under the same surgeon , the same hospital etc.

You would be suprised at the difference of Cost between my surgery and Hungrytides. We did it in the same hospital ..under same surgeon....the same month. The only difference is he had asthma....But the cost differential is HUGE. I wont mention how much .but very very huge difference in price. ;D

The surgeon will do the best he can possible in your case.

Each case is different. Each person will have totally different recovery speeds.
Each will have different looking chests after surgery.....

There is nothing 100 % static or Common.

Hope my post was helpful..And besides the scars will fade with time ...Mine have already faded alot...i cannot make out the scars unless i get my chest within 1 feet from the mirror. Plus if you got some hair on your chest then nothing like it.

Thanks a lot bloregynacomastia for your clarifications.. Hungry.tides, any comments from you?

<feel doc knows best, you shouldnt make decsions based on usage of drains, there a reason why they do it. There are lot of good PS apart from Dr Susheel C, I dont want to promote any one PS over other, lot of things have to be considered, like your budget, proximity to your place, most importantly how comfortable you are with Doc.
>
hungry.tides, I would want to go to the best surgeon in blr..  wouldn't mind paying more.. probably I would like to post a new topic on this... this will definitely help the guys  in choosing the best surgeon in blr...
would need your feedback also...
-Tony.

Hey dude

Ditto same problems dude....The vest itches when you are sweaty especially back side .....  Armpits keep paining....I asked Selvaraj about it.He said if the armpits were slightly looser there wont be any meaning in Compression as  the vest wont press tightlyy against the chest. So no option of making size bigger.

He said keep tugging at the vest from the bottom whenever it hurts.....

What I do is this...Whenever you come from outside..Remove the vest for half an hour dry your skin maybe take a shower dry your body and keep the vest under the fan for 10 mins,,then wear it again.

Im wearing it from over my head  like a baniyan as there isnt anyone to make me wear it. I close it then wiggle my way in it.....takes almost 2 full clocked minutes to get inside it.

After a while say a week or two  you will get used to the feeling and wont find it irritating or painful.

Also when the vest is new it is ultra tight. so you got to bear with it for that promise of a sexy chest.

Whenever I get devilish thoughts of removing the vest anytime....I remember my old looking chest .The look of those Moobs is still vivid and fresh and haunting  in my memory. I say Fuk the irritation...I wanna flat chest with fully pushed in nipples not puffy ones as they still are now.  I REMAIN wearing it.

DO THE SAME BUDDY. You Dont have a choice !! ;D

No it does not Pain at all ...This is bcoz your surgery is fresh ..Mine was almost a month b4 you. During my early days of wearing compression vest I used to only remove it after 4 days of continous use. I never removed it. Now I remove it twice a day just to relax a bit and dry the sweat if there.

WASH your compression vest regularly bcoz the dry sweat causes itchyness. If you wash it regularly the itchy feeling disappears.

Relax buddy.... and what do you mean by scar tissue ? My cuts were done exactly on the nipple and it looks little lighter red in color on the  lower rim of the nipple. The crusty covering will fall of after some time(Shud have fallen by now for You.)

cant say it exists or not bcoz I really fail to understand what you mean by scar tissue exactly ? Plz elaborate ...!

HEY and one more thing that lump of yours is swelling due to Lipo. You are a lucky guy to have just one lump..MY whole breast both sides was swollen ...A big hard painless dead lump. Thats why I went to doctor and used ThromboPhob gel.

You shud be happy you arent bruised as bad as I was....Now the lump has vanished. Time is the healer.... ;D
