Dear Buzzer1000,

Please go through all the previous posts and you will answer to your questions...
Regarding Chiang Mai, I would not recommend it since I'm really not sure they are used to dealing with plastic surgery, but this is just a personal advice.

We are still waiting for THE one who had surgery in Bangkok and can recommend one doctor. They must lots of them, just wished they would read our forum and contribute !!!

Cheers,

Sam

Hi all,

I have spent 4 or 5 years in Thailand over the past 12 years and have attended a number of hospitals on several occasions for services ranging from medicals to surgery.  4 months ago i had lipo surgery carried out at one of the larger Bangkok Hospitals.  This hospital is pretty much like Bumangrad - like a shopping mall -  blah, blah!  Nevertheless,  dont be fooled by appearances.

My PS was Dr  _ _ _ _   (for legal reasons)  and if you checked out his profile on their website he claims his second speciality is  English language, and i suppose thats true if  being able to say 'ok can do - you understand me' counts as being specialized.  At my consultation he said that my left side was bigger than my right side - although i had never noticed. He also showed me some photos of a couple of guys he had previously operated on - the photos were (supposedly)ten days post op and they looked very impressive. He told me i would only need local anesthetic as i would not need much fat removed - and that was it!

Day of surgery:  I was escorted upto the operating area and handed over to a young girl dressed for surgery (green gown and hat etc.)  She read my notes and laughed saying to herself in Thai - breasts, breasts (num num).  I obviously felt like a right  tw-t.  After donning my operation kit i was told to lie on a trolley in what must have been a recovery/delivery room !!  In the bed opposite there was a young pregnant Thai lady screaming in pain ( i kid you not).  When i looked over they pulled the curtain around here bed and continued to prepair her for the delivery room - i think ???  After an uncomfortable wait i was wheeled into the  operating theatre.  Dr _ _ _ _  came in, and without so much as a how do you do, he marked  up my chest, strapped me down and injected both sides of my chest with anesthetic.

Now it gets bad:  After a couple of minutes he sticks a needle into my right breast and asks if i feel any pain - slightly i said!  Next thing he makes a cut under my breast (felt the cut) and quickly inserted the lipo tube - i tried to leap from the bed, it felt like i was bieng stabbed with a blunt instrument - but slower than would happen if i had actually been stabbed!!!  "Ok solly mister, please wait ok"  After receiving more injections of anesthetic he continued with the procedure (what can i say!!)

When he finished i knew instinctivley that he had took more from the right than the left - he even got my sides mixed up (he told me at the consultation that my left was bigger).   When I asked him how much fat he had removed he said 150mls - thats from both sides.  when i asked him a week later he said no more than 200mls but he couldnt say how much from which side.

The thing is:  At my consultation he quoted me 40 to 60,000 Baht.  I asked him to be more specific and we agreed on 40,000 ($1200) since it would be under local anesthetic.  Get this, during the operation he told his assistants (speaking Thai) that this was cheap as a ferang (foreigner) would have to pay 4 or 5 times more in Europe.  His attitude was that he was doing it cheap and doing me a big favour - so you get what you pay for.  And believe me thats the way the Thais see it.  This was confirmed to me later when  i asked why he hadnt given me enough anesthetic - he said something to the affect of 'more time more money'.  I know he felt indignant that i had negotiated the fee down to 40,000 baht.  You see Thais have this face thing so rather that state his case to charge me more he had the last word in the Theatre.

Anyway 4 months on my left side is pretty mutch the same as it was before surgery and my right side is flat and dented!!
