16 with gynectomastia

I have had gyne for 5 yrs . I have very puffy nipples and hat disk underneath.  I'm 5 10 and weigh 165.All I wear is double breasted buttonups my favorite kinda shirt before the gyne. I hate not being able to wear tees and polos and not swimming. My dad told me he had gyne but got it removed when he got older.My mom freaked out when she saw me topless and the doctor chuckled. I want to ask for surgery but my parents are broke and  i dont know how to bring it up.Oh yah I have 11000 in savings I want to use since I know my parents are broke after Christmas. I  never talk to my parents so how do I bring it up . I feel like they would treat me weird

With 5 years of gyne and no change, you would probably require surgery to help you.  Your dad, having had gyne surgery himself, should certainly sympathize with you.  The best advice is to bring it up directly to your folks, and be ready to describe how long you have had it and how it is affecting your life, both socially, at the gym/pool/beach, and in school.  And if indeed you have saved money for the procedure, then you should offer that and request that they take you to a qualified gyne specialist in your area.

I agree with Dr. Jacobs, that your condition is not going to go away on it's own if it's been there for 5 years already.  And your father should certainly be sympathetic.  With what you've saved, you can cover the cost and then have plenty to use for that vacation to a nice beach to show off your new chest!  It seems like the biggest road block is the conversation you need to have with your parents.  Most parents actually appreciate when their children talk to them, and in your case, you'll be presenting a problem and a solution at the same time--and they won't have to pay for it!
