is deepithelization really necessary?
is deepithelization procedure really necessary for moderate grade gynecomastia 2b? does it leaves bad scars? my doc told me i had a big gland almost 10 cm in diameter and it wont come out through the small incision below the nipple and would require a full periareolar incision along with deepithelization. personally i feel my gynecomastia is not so severe. should i consult some other doctor?
please help..

Some photos would be helpful.

Obviously, some photos would be helpful. However, in all my years of performing gynecomastia surgery, I have always been able to excise gland (no matter what the size) through a peri-areolar incision.

I agree that photo would be useful, but I would join Dr. jacobs in confirming that I have removed fairly large masses through a peri-areolar incision without difficulty, only reserving skin reduction for those who require it for significant skin excess. It may be worth getting a second opinion.
