You should definitely bring the situation to the attention of your surgeon.  He may, in turn, refer you to an internal medicine doctor for a thorough checkup prior to your gyne surgery.  Usually this situation is temporary and benign and it should not interfere with your planned gyne surgery.

It is common to have patients describe "swollen glands" in their armpits after gynecomastia surgery, but I would agree with Dr. Jacobs, that you should check with your surgeon prior to the surgery to be sure no additional work up is needed.

I have found that the inherent difficulty with visualization, decreased control of resection of the sub-areolar region and increased scar length laterally required by an axillary approach has made that approach sub-optimal.
