After gyne surgery, there is always numbness -- kind of like what your lips feel like after a dental injection. You know you are touching your chest and you can feel pressure -- but the fine touch sensation is missing.
This is because many of the fine little sensory nerve fibers to the skin are either temporarily disrupted or in a state of shock and not functioning properly.

As these nerves begin to wake up and function, they send off signals which are misinterpreted by the body as tingling, itchiness or even a sharp shooting pain that quickly comes and goes before you know it.

The tingling, in a certain sense, is like when the dental injection begins to wear off -- there is a tingling as the nerve regains its ability to conduct signals.  And after a while, the tingling disappears and the lips feel normal again.

Relax -- this is a normal part of the recovery after gyne surgery!
