Surgeon credentials

I'm not exactly sure how large or small the plastic surgeon community is but I was hoping someone could give me some insight into my surgeons credentials. The military paired me up with him and I haven't found many(any) reviews on him. No before or after pictures on his website(haven't checked at the office yet). He said the procedure would require both lipo and gland excision. He'll utilize drains after the surgery.

Dr. Ted K. Ortega has extensive experience for over 30 years in private practice in Pensacola, Florida. Dr. Ted Ortega is a Diplomate of the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Although I do not know him personally, he seems to have the appropriate credentials.

That is the first step.  When you meet with him, make sure he has sufficient interest and experience in gyne surgery -- it is not a simple operation.  Ask to see a number of his before and after photos as well.

If you have his credentials accurate, he graduated from med school about 20 years before I did.  I'm 56, so that makes him pretty old.

Be sure that he does a lot of gynecomastia surgery.  It sounds like he has the right plan: liposuction and tissue excision.
