Hello.....New Member to the site, but have been actively reading the forums for about 6 months.

Just to let some of the BC Residents know.... I just called BC MSP  to find out if BC residents are covered in Ontario. The lady said MSP covers the surgery but all travelling expenses must be paid by the person. I have found a site that offers free flights for people to other parts of the country for surgeries, the site is http://www.hopeair.org. I am not sure if they would provide the flights for Gyno.... but it would be worth the try. Being from BC I am looking at Dr Fielding as an option because of all the good things I have heard about him. Although my case is not as severe as many... it has for sure impacted my life.

I will include another link to the BC Medical Services Commission Payment Schedule. The MSC Payment Schedule is the list of fees approved by the Medical Services Commission payable to physicians for insured medical services provided to beneficiaries enrolled with MSP. http://www.healthservices.gov.bc.ca/msp/infoprac/physbilling/payschedule/index.html
Click on the "General Surgery" tab and then click on "Breast" and you will find Gyno underneith. I was thinking it would cost a lot more to do the surgery then what they have listed, but I guess this does not include all the other fees (meds, anist., etc.). For the payment schedule for OHIP...... the link is http://www.health.gov.on.ca/english/providers/program/ohip/sob/physserv/physserv_mn.html
I was comparing costs to see if I would have to pay any extra out of pocket expenses (beside the Lypo fee)

Hope this helps some people. Let Me Know

Carn,

My Surgery is booked for next Wednesday... I fly to Toronto on tuesday and I am staying the night at the four points Sheraton. After my surgery I will spend one night in the Hospital and then stay at a buddies until the sunday when I fly back.

Hey BCGUY. Good luck man. Just one more week for you. I have the same situation as you do.

If it isn't too much to ask, if it possible, can you get back to me on how well the surgery went for you and the experiances you went through? Perhaps through writing a journal on this site. It would really mean alot to me.
You're pretty much the only one here that's from BC that still is active in these forums. Although I've seen supaman(sp?) here from time to time.

I added you on MSN awhile ago, but you were confused as to who I was and wasn't able to respond quickly enough before you blocked/deleted me (I think) or you're just never on MSN ;)

I will record my surgery experiences in this forum so everyone can read and learn. I talked to leslie the receptionist the other day and she says that Dr Fielding likes to see you after surgery. I have to go to a different hospital on the thursday to see him before I leave just to make sure there are no complications. I am looking forward for next Wednesday! The only thing I have to do now is make sure the certified Cheque gets there in time... I am sure they are pretty lax on that though.... ???

Thanks man.

By the way, did you see an endocrinologist(sp?) here in BC? If you did, can you tell me who you saw and where I could be able to contact him/her?

Sorry for the late response....I'm sure you know this by now but BC MSP covers the excision 100% for a surgery with Fielding. An overnight stay in a 'semi-private' (two person in my case) room is also available for free since you're out of province. I had a Hell of a time trying to find info on the BC MSP site my first time, I eventually just called and got a human to talk with after a painful voice automated assistance routine.

You may be rather boned if your cheque doesn't arrive before surgery. Leslie told me pre-op that the money had to arrive before I went under...So I hope that works out for you man.

I'm assuming your surgery is tomorrow (or is it next week?), so all the best and let us know how it goes. As Bambu would say, you're in good hands with Craig Fielding. Let me know if you have any other questions, if it is in fact next week.
