Questions regarding gyno and surgery!!

Hi, I am new to this forum and had some questions regarding gyno and the surgery. Just to introduce myself I am 19 years old, 5'11 and 160 pounds and 95% positive I have gyno. It is not severe but it is noticable when i am wearing fitted clothes. I was thinking about getting the surgery this fall but had some questions in mind. Here they are. Please let me know if you know the answers:

1) How do I get in contact with the doctors? I've seen Dr. Lista and Dr. Fielding in the forums. What are the prices approx.? How come their price differs? And which surgeon would you prefer and think is better for this surgery. I'm not loaded with cash, so I need to stay in budget below $2500.

2) How long would I have to wait for the surgery? Approximately...

3) What is the surgery basically? Is it just lipsuction?

4) How can I pay the doctors?

5) *IMPORTANT* Since I'm trying to keep it private, what is the best way? I'm 19.

ANy thing else i should know before meeting the doctor, please let me know...Btw I live in toronto...

Lista: $6000 (approx)
JCF:   $2000 (approx)

Price differs for the reason that you get OHIP support if you go with JCF. OHIP will pay for excision and all hospital fees. You will only need to pay for Lipo...

Both surgeons are as equally qualified... I chose JCF mainly to save a few $$$...  If you have a budget of $2500, then your choice of PS is clear!

The wait time for surgery all depends on how busy the PS of choice is... With JCF you could be looking at a month or two... With Dr. Lista, a week or two...

Check out this Vid featuring Dr. Lista. He explains his technique... Dr. Lista apparently can remove the gland via liposuction... Dr. Fielding uses a peri-areola (half circle) incision at the bottom of the areola to remove the gland and a small incisions at the side of the chest for lipo.

You can pay the docs with cash and most major credit cards...

Since you are 19, you have the right to keep your medical affairs private. This includes keeping it private from your parents. Do you still live with mom and dad?

- Then how come people go for Dr. Lista if his prices are twice or more?
- I will be moving out in a month...Why does that matter? Is there any mails or anything like that?

Some people choose Dr. Lista as he does not make a peri-areola incision (the incision on the lower half of the areola). Some guys are paranoid that scars there may be noticeable (mine aren't )... JCF on the other hand, uses the peri-areola incision technique.

No mails dude. However, if you were to be living with your parents after your surgery then it would be very difficult to hide from them, the fact that you had surgery. I suppose it would be possible, but very difficult to keep it from them as you need to wear a compression vest for 2-3 weeks or more... I'm sure they would notice that... In addition, you can't have a shower for a week as you have to wear the vest 24/7 for the first week...

You'll need to tell someone that you are having surgery... a family member or friend, as you'll need someone to escort you home after surgery...

hmm i won't be living home, so that shouldnt be a problem.. but i was wondering what are the chances of the scars staying? i havent heard many people talk about them here....and cant i drive home after the surgery?

Scars don't really go away, man. On the bright side, they're very, very minimal. The scars from the lipo are less than a centimeter, and the scar around each nipple follows the line of the areola which makes them both virtually unnoticeable. Trust me when I say that your biggest concern should -not- be the scars in this case - it's better to live with four tiny marks on your skin than living with gynecomastia.

As for driving home...no, you can't drive home after surgery. I'm from Ottawa, so I had to stay in the hospital overnight. If you live in Toronto, you can go home after the surgery but you need someone to drive you. JCF will give you instructions on a sheet that state this very clearly.

GB, that is sick, no chance of evening questioning if there was a surgery or not....I have heard horror stories of the half circle scars, even Lista talked about it.  But I guess better surgeon, smaller scars....
