It's been about 8 weeks since my surgery.  I had a very LARGE case and I know it's going to take time to heal and skin to contract.  My concern is that I have a large area in both breast that feels like cement (well, maybe not that hard) and the Dr says that my skin will not contact completely until this is gone.  What is it?  Is it swollen tissue?  Is it scar tissue that will eventually go away?  Any help would be appreciated as I've lived with this for 20yrs and would really like to get in the pool this summer.

bleon....

Relax dude, the 'cement' that you are experiencing is indeed 'scar tissue'. It will go away with time.... It's a gradual process tho, so ya gotta be patient my man.   ;)

  • Surg. Aug 05...Got rev. Apr. 06...Still have breasts!
Here is my experience I just replied to in another post..
"About 2 weeks after my surgery I started feeling lumpy tissue right around my nipples and under it. After 2 months all the lumpy tissue became 1 small mass right under my nipples. I am 4 months now and the mass has hardened quite a bit and it is now down to about the size of a quarter on each side. In my case I believe its probably scar tissue since it still feels uncomfortable and actually hurts if i try to squeeze it, my fear is that i still have plenty of gland still left since it feels very solid and like you said its hard to believe it will go away. It really sucks cause i expected better results by now...I will just try to be as patient as possible...and am looking forward to my scheduled visit with the dr. in about 2 weeks."

I think more than likely you got the same problem I do, just try to squeeze it a bit and see if it hurts. Also like allan said keep an eye on it and see if in the next couple of weeks it seems to go down or change in shape, this would be a good indicator that its probably just swollen tissue. Lets just hope thats all we have and we can hopefully be able to go to the beach by summertime! Good luck keep us posted on your progress.
