There are over 500 shades of the color white! You asked for a "white" wall and that's what you now have a beautiful white wall! It's impossible to know the exact shade that will satisfy what is in your mind as that perfect shade of white!

Except in this case I can picture exactly what type of outcome would completely satisfy me

In this case, YOU picked out the white color off the color chart, the paint was mixed by the computer to match that color exactly, but in your mind it isn't perfect, however, no one else can see it' it's time to accept that it will be ok! No one can see or read what you see in your mind, and this isn't a perfect world nor is anything in it! We need to learn to live with that.

Hi David,

I agree with Hammer and Dr Jacobs.  If you are the only one who can see it, that means the audience you are playing to can't see it.  As you were doing this so you wouldn't have to see or deal with their reactions to your breasts, you have accomplished your purpose.  Nobody is going to point at your breasts and laugh or even notice.  If you keep going you could end up in the "oh that poor unfortunate man with the botched up surgery.I wonder what happened to him?" category.  Think Michael Jackson's nose for instance.

To answer your original question, yes, I do think you are being unreasonable.

You paid for an operation and for a surgeon to do his best.  No surgeon can guarantee perfect results or 100% satisfaction on the part of the patient.

I have had patients who had a 98% excellent result -- and instead of looking at the great improvement they had, they instead focused on the missing 2% and sought absolute perfection in their surgical results.  Just think -- did you achieve 100% on every exam you had in high school?  Well surgery is a lot harder and more unpredictable -- human tissue just isn't moldable and able to be sculpted to perfection.

As I previously stated, there is no perfection in this world.  Accept your results and move on with your life.  If you seek another surgeon (and pay for another operation), you may regret it.

'Nuf said.

Hey Dr. Jacobs,

Thanks for the blunt response. For the most part I agree but just to get my thoughts out and maybe clarify what I was saying I think 2 points are relevant as a response

1. I'm sure part of it comes from expectation vs results. If someone showed me my current results before my surgery happened then I still would have gotten it done but I would have been expecting this rather than expecting better so I would have been more easily able to accept it vs hoping for me

2. In my case at least I fully agree it would be unreasonable to always expect 100% on the first try, that's not what I was saying. It was more like "OK, we didn't get 100% the first try and that's fine. We even said we would rather be a little overly cautious to avoid an indentation and whatnot specifically because we always have the option of going back in and taking more out if necessary" and now that option seems to have been taken away. So I definitely wasn't saying I expected perfection right away, but yes I was expecting to be closer to an ideal result even if it meant going in a 2nd time to get there.

I do realize though that this comes with consequences, so I just wish he took a bit more out the first time since it seems a 2nd surgery isn't really an option anyway (certainly not going to pay another $5400, and my surgeon didn't seem to be OK with going in again anyway).

Edit: Oh, lastly Dr. Jacobs while I have you here, I was wondering 1 other thing....there is some clear scar tissue remaining on the right side a little bit to the right of the nipple and below. I don't think this is affecting how it looks much but I can feel it and my doctor didn't want to risk doing another kenalog injection. With scar tissue is it the case that with enough ample massaging over time it will eventually break up or is it possible that even if I keep rubbing/massaging it hard daily it still would never go away? Not a big deal but curious.

Thanks again

In my opinion, scar tissue should only be treated if it causes a contour irregularity which is visible.  You don't need to treat scar tissue just because you can feel it.  More than likely it will gradually soften and be less noticeable.  No need for massage -- just forget about it.

Gotcha. Was mostly curious if scar tissue in general is something that can always be "worked out" or if in some cases it just couldn't be done without some type of steroid injection (I have scar tissue in general from working out as well) but OK makes sense.

Thanks

Hammer and Alchemist,

While I don't completely agree with you guys (for example it is not exactly as I pictured and I did not do this so that others wouldn't notice....almost no one even noticed beforehand...I did it for ME to not notice) I do agree with the majority of what you're saying and it is helpful, especially if I will not do anything else at this point to change it (which is probably true) so thanks for the input.

Hi David,

From my own experience and that of my family I would have to say that only my sister's knee and leg injuries from sports went according to expectations.  None of the others in my family had surgeries go according to plan.  Also, I did some of the reports and analysis of complaints in the groups we were reviewing, percentage of dissatisfaction by procedure and things like that.  We were not reviewing satisfied members.  I wish you luck and satisfaction in all this.

The pic I'm attaching is from yesterday and shows what I'm talking about. It's absolutely ridiculous. I don't think a plastic surgeon on this planet would say that looks correct. What I really am most annoyed about is that every time I showed a picture or video to the doctor he said he has to go by what he sees in person and not the video/picture which CLEARLY shows the issue. We have no disagreement about what he sees in person because it's always contracted then. The issue, which he kept ignoring, is how it is when it's like this. That's the most frustrating thing because as far as I know (someone correct me if I'm wrong) the only way this could appear as it does in the picture is due to remaining breast tissue.

To me it looks like a nipple hard on that any male can get and is totally normal!

It's the opposite! lol when it's hard and contracted it looks perfect, flat up again my chest. This is when it's 100% relaxed, super soft and sticks out like a damn gorilla breast :\ (as my brother describes it).
