I'm a Californian, but old enough to know what daft means even though it is not a term in common usage here and now.
I am sometimes guilty of a few harsh words. But trust me, They are used only out of the frustration that comes froms repeating the same words over and over without apparently being understood.
At my age, (I was born in 1937) being a bit daft comes quite naturally. Hopefully when it surfaces, it will be forgiven.
