Cost of HRT??

Haven't been around for awhile... sorry. Had the op, and I've been very happy with results.

How much does testosterone replacement cost? My test is kind of low, and estradiol kind of high. Not a huge deal, but just wondering how much it costs. I am on DIM and zinc, but it hasn't gotten me where I'd like to be.

Also, if your taking testosterone...would your estrogen also go up?

I can lift weights, eat healthy, and do everything right, but I do not build muscle. I just get more toned. After all the research, I'm blaming it on lack of testosterone. What can I do??

P.S. All other hormone levels were fine...just low test and high est.

I have the same problem as you at the gym, but recently I've get even worse. Really tired, no energy, feeling down, hopelessness.

I have low testosterone, and my doctor has put me on Testogel. I think it's about $50 a month.

Aromatase and SHBG are all things that can make what testosterone you do have either not be absorbed, or be converted to estrogen (which is pretty stupid )

How low is low, btw?

lowt: low testosterone is usually anything 300 ng or under, but there are two types of testosterone in the blood, free testosterone is the kind that you need to have measured. A lot of doctors will measure "total" testosterone (which isn't all available to be used by the body).

Androgel & Testim cost about $300 per month.  Most insurance covers most of it.

Compounded testosterone gel at the same strength or twice as strong cost about $50 per month.

I use a compounded testosterone gel from CollegePharmacy.com

I used to use the commerical gels but needed two paks a day & I refused to charge the insurance company $600 per month for what I could get for $50.
