i've done a lot of research about Danazol, testolactone, tamoxifen, raloxifen, and clomiphene. I've had surgery offered, but surggeon is very cynical about comsmetic results. I would prefer to try some other things, I've seen trial results which suggest raloxifen and danazol are effective to a certain extent?

anyone here had any experience with any of these?

cheers

try Androgel (testogel in UK) its testosterone replacement. lack of testosterone ( & therefore too much estrogen) is the only cause of gyne & it will diminish if you use this stuff. (it also gives your libido a serious boost!! ;D)

* a man is more than a body will ever tell
* if it screws up your life the same, is there really any such thing as "mild" gyne?

I have done quite a lot of research on this. I disagree with Angel Allens rather simple view. The majority of Gyne has no link to hormoe levels - although some does. My own levels are normal apart from my testosterone level which way (3x) above the normal range. I had moobs until last week when they where removed by Dr. Karidis in the UK. For the small number of people with hormone linked gyne the drugs you mention can be effective if they are still in the forming stage. After all think about old women, if they had a big rack when young, they keep it until they die, the reduction in femail hormones in later life doesn't caused them to disapear. In the UK most of the drugs are not approved for treatment of gyne and are given on a trail basis - ie no one knows what the long term effects are. So if your much over puberty its not likely to work

Sadly surgery is best solution. The results are often great. I am pleased. Look at my post in the uk section

Sorry, I couldn't disagree more with this statement.

Every case of glandular (not pseudo) gyne is caused by an imbalance in hormone levels.  That is a medical fact and quoted in more medical papers by world renowned Endocrinologists than you can shake a stick at.  Try having a look at one ... http://journals.endocrinology.org/erc/006/erc0060315.htm.  It quotes ... This common clinical condition results from an imbalance in estrogen action relative to androgen action at the breast tissue level.

What causes that imbalance is the big question.  Most often it is a temporary imbalance at puberty which corrects itself; in a few cases it is not temporary and can be caused by a dozen or more different medical conditions and diseases.

I feel it is important to correct any misunderstanding here.  Glandular Gynecomastia is always caused by an imbalance in hormone levels.  That is the starting point.

If you think your hormone levels are out of synch.  See an Endocrinologist.  Don’t try messing around with testosterone gels etc.  Simply put you could increase your oestradiol levels when your body converts the testosterone to oestradiol.  This can make your gyne worse.  See an Endo.

I agree, time-to-fix, testogel CAN actually cause gyne, but for many it can help reduce it too (although once its there, some will always be there)
Thanx for agreeing with me on the hormone imbalance tho, as you correctly say, breast tissue can ONLY grow with an excess of estrogen. Hence the reason women usually have breasts & guys dont!!!!!!!!!!!!!
many things can cause this imbalance from pituitary disorders to hormone secreting tumours to unknown causes.

I tried andractim gel and Nolvadex/tamoxifen, neither work.  Save your money for surgery, its the only way to go.

I am being treated by Dr. Shippen for high SHBG, high prolactin, and low Free testosterone.  I have also sought the help of Dr. Crisler, who often shares patients with Shippen, to help with my gynecomastia.  We are working at stabalizing my HPTA and plan to treat my gyne in early July once labs have been reviewed.  I will keep all posted on my progess

Spaceace that is great because if you are being treated by Dr Eugene Shippen (author of the Testosterone Syndrome), then you are in very good hands indeed as he is a world leading expert on this subject.

All the best with your treatment.   :)
