Would the recovery time be quicker if I just had excision done only because I dont have a lot of BF. And would it not be so painful? Do you think I would get good results? (flat nipple)

you don't want to rule out lipo as part of the work, a good ps can use it as part of contour work around the main op, you just don't want it to substitute for the excision, which is what some less competent ps's think they can do, and they're generally wrong.  also, there's probably less recovery time for excision than lipo only, but the technique should be determined by best results, not a few days more or less of recovery.  the pain isn't much to worry about, it'll just feel sore.  and a ps specifically experienced in gyne, as opposed to one with only moderate or little experience, is what you're looking for for best results.

* if it screws up your life the same, is there really any such thing as "mild" gyne?

Question for you:  if the recovery time were quicker (which it won't be) but the surgical results not as good, would it have been worthwhile to go for one technique over the other?

In most cases (yes, there are exceptions), both techniques are used

Pain is very subjective -- I have had patients complain about it with both excision only, lipo only and combined.  And some patients hardly have pain at all -- just some soreness for a few days.

Best advice:  don't hobble your surgeon by going in and demanding one technique over the other -- your surgeon should have the ability to utilize whatever technique is necessary in order to get the best result for you.

Oh, one last thing.  Go to an experienced gyne surgeon.

Each surgeon has his / her own techniques. I prefer my Dynamic Technique targeting gland first. Liposuction typically is an element of my sculpture.  Even for my patients with very low body fat and Puffy Nipple Gynecomastia, both excision and liposuction are common for my patients.  Comfort After Gynecomastia Surgery depends on many factors that include how the surgeon sculpts.  My patients typically tell me that they have a sore chest, like they had a heavy work out. Although I prescribe strong pain pills, most tell me that plain Tylenol alone is more than enough for their comfort. Recovery After Gynecomastia Surgery has similar factors. Results that you can see on those links are typical for my patients. Take your time and explore the many examples and patient experiences to see what I mean.  When evaluating another surgeon, you should find similar information about that surgeon's patient comfort and recovery.

Hope this helps,

I would only echo what has already been said by the Surgeons who have responded.

It would be highly unwise to handicap your surgeon by limiting their options. They need to have the liberty to adapt the procedure as needed to produce the best result. Sometimes the initial plan will have to be modified as the surgery progresses to achieve this.
