There's tons of other conditions affectning adolescents that gyno really isn't important.

Really.... G is a trivial issue?

Bwaaaahahahahah.... dude what have you been smoking?  Gynecomasita is a brain twisting, confidence killing, life altering incarceration... It can also lead to suicidal thoughts/action...  :o   and you say it "really isn't important"...  You may want to rethink that!

GB...

I didn't say gyno didn't suck. Even though I feel gyno is very important, it really isn't in the big picture. It doesn't cause excruciating pain, you don't die, and you don't get pumped full toxic drugs, you don't lose your job, etc. Gyno is terrible in the sense that it destroys the mind of the victim, but the sad thing is the majority of the people don't see it that way. Unfortunately when someone sees a person with this condition, the reaction is usually along the lines of "hahaha look at them tig-ol-biddies! moobiemoobiemoobiemobie hahaha lmfao". When someone sees a person suffering from depression, a dwarf, severe acne, a kid with autism, etc. people take it more seriously.

The reason why I say gyno is unimportant in the big picture is because its an extremely rare disorder, contrary to false statistics, mild to moderate cases are easily hidden, and it's a relatively easy and painless surgical fix. Chances are, there is going to be something seriously medically wrong with you eventually, whether it be cancer, a genetic disease, obesity, etc.

My goal is to change how gyno is perceived. I want doctors to stop spreading false hope to adolescents suffering from this that "it'll go on its own", and I want the general public to stop laughing and to put themselves in our shoes for once. We have it just as bad as the kid with severe acne or the guy suffering from depression.

GB is right on the money as usual.

I agree with him entirely that it is totally wrong to trivialize Gynecomastia no matter how minor it is percieved to be.

At the same time, I must confess that I too have been guilty. I rarely ever check the photographs that have been posted for that very reason. I found that I was sometimes belittling people with rather minor puffy nipps for example. It was wrong for me to do that.

If the condition is causing grief, comparative size is not an issue nor should it be. Various ratings for Gynecomastia based upon size and degree of glandular vs fatty tissue may have a place in the surgeons notes, but I think they are meaningless for the rest of us.

naw I get what ur saying. We who suffer from gyne obviously don't see it as a trivial thing, but to others it may seem more like a joke. Your average person would never expect the amount of mental anguish is causes until they actually hear an honest confession from someone with the disorder. Where someone wish cancer is likely to get automatic sympathy, but frankly I would never really want someones sympathy for my gyne nor would It make me feel any better.
f*ck gyne

* a man is more than a body will ever tell
* if it screws up your life the same, is there really any such thing as "mild" gyne?

I can't even begin to tell you how wrong you are, BadCase. You must have some mental block if you don't think gyno is everywhere. Hell, both of my roommates have it in some degree, as well... one severe, one has it on one side. And yeah, that is coincidence.

I'm pretty sure gyno is more common now than ever. Men are getting less exercise and eating less healthy (helps keep hormone levels in balance) and are eating poor quality food that is estrogenic because of all the injected hormones and massive levels of pesticides.

< 1% of Males have noticeable gynecomastia? Where are you coming up with that bullshit statistic?

I walked around a populated area last weekend and NOTICED at least 10 males with mild to moderate gynecomastia. You're telling me I essentially saw the only 10 guys in the world that have it within 20 minutes in one day? LOL.. riiiight.

it just depends on where you draw the noticeable line.  i'd say about 1% have significant or bad gyne, but i could probably "notice" it on 5 or even 10%.

of course i notice it a lot more after finding the site than i ever did before  ;)

yes your right there..
This site can speak to itself how many guys out there have gyne.

And I just want to clarify things... Gyne must be talked about..
And Im really thankful of this site because it gave me hope that there's still
a way that it can be removed...although im thinking of the "life threatening" surgery.
but still, it gave me enough knowledge about things..on what to do or not.
The pros and cons of everything regarding gyne.

And having the gyne to be removed is not only for the "mind victims"..
For some cases, gyne causes pain especially when someone had hit you on chest part
or lying on the floor.

Maybe one of the reasons people think moobs are trivial and good for a chuckle at the sufferers expense is that there is an incorrect perception that men with gyne are out of shape, and lazy. You know, "just get out there and exercise fat ass!" Fat people are the last social group (I guess that is what I would call them) that can be made fun of with impunity. Unless of course, that fat person kicks your skinny ass for saying anything in the first place!

GB hit the nail on the head squarely.

The condition is such that, while it seldom has physical implications, it can have really severe emotional consequences. No matter how common or within anyones estimation of statistical normality it is, the condition should NEVER be trivialized.
