Gynecomastia Surgery Cost Inquiry (Canada)

I have an average to moderate case. I have seen pictures of sever cases, and although in my mind my case seems severe, when I look at photos I can see that it's not as bad as some I have seen. I have gotten two quotes from to Plastic Surgeons. One gave me a straight up quote of about eight thousand, and the other gave me a quote of 2700 for minor to 5700 for major.  Both plastic surgeons utilize the same technique, semi circular incision, gland removal, and liposuction. Since 5700 represents the extreme end of the spectrum, and I fall somewhere in the middle I have to ask myself why is there such a huge difference in cost? Any insight is appreciated.

My cost was 100% covered by my Provincial Health plan. Mind you I had a double mastectomy.

My surgery is 100% covered by Medicare.  I'm in New Brunswick

Thanks for the replies. I plan on appealing the decision for my surgery not being covered.

in alberta you have to convince your physician or endo that its a problem and needs to be covered.. not the surgeon.
