Im 19 ( turn 20 in a month) and have had gyno since i was about 13. When i got to be about 15 or 16 i got really skinny except the fat in my chest area stayed:/. I always thought i could get rid of it on my own so i decided to workout heavily, but eventually i realized no matter how much cardio i did or how hard i worked out it was not going away. I have gotten teased quite a bit about it and it has left me with little to no self confidence. I had never spoken to anyone about this before because it was so embarrassing but a week ago i got the nerves and emailed my mother telling her  everthing i had been feeling and how this problem has almost controlled my life. She was really receptive and wants the best for me. She set up an appointment with my general practitioner in a week but i think he will only tell me something i already know ( that i have gyno). But i want yalls guys help! where should i go from here? i spent most of my teenage years worrying about this i want to enjoy my 20's...thanks guys!

well, i used to work @ a plastic surgeons office not to long ago.. and i did talk to some of the patients every time i could...  i think you should just go ahead and have surgery done.. i think its the easiest way to get rid of it. The doctor that i worked for is really good at what he does, and i´ve seen the before and after of many patients.. if you want more info, u can reply :)

stay strong, good luck

Dude...

Yeah, it can't hurt to see your GP first... Listen to what he says, and then make an educated decision for yourself... You may want to ask your GP to set up a consult with an Endocrinologist to have your hormone levels checked.

If your hormone levels are normal, then the next step is to do some research and find yourself a qualified Plastic Surgeon to have the 'Curse' lifted...

I went through all of my teens, all of my 20's, all of my 30's and eventually had surgery at 41. So many good times I missed out on...

As you mentioned dude, you don't want to miss out on the 'carefree' fun years of your life...

All I can say is find a good PS and Git'er done!

thanks man! i am from Texas and i have been looking at prices of different plastic surgeons and all of them range from 3,000 to 8,000. Why such a difference in price if its the same procedure?

A surgeons skill level, the amount of time the surgeon has been performing the procedure and the frequency of a particular procedure has a lot to do with the fee that he/she can command.

It's like anything else you buy... One store has something listed for $30, while another is selling the identical item for $50... Why the diff? The store that is selling the $50 item 'thinks' that 'someone' will buy it at that price... Not a perfect analogy, but I'm sure you get idea...

A few years back, I read a post that one surgeon was charging something like $14,000 (USD)...   :o

It all comes down to doing your homework dude....  Research the PS's, compare prices, go to a few consults and then make an educated decision based on what you have learned.... ;)

what gb said, plus location can also be a factor.  you know the lay of the land.  pick your ps carefully in favor of experienced, but getting it fixed is now up to you.  welcome to the site.
* a man is more than a body will ever tell
* if it screws up your life the same, is there really any such thing as "mild" gyne?
