im almost 18 and i live in columbus ohio i went to the doctors in 7th grade for a physical and my nipples were reallly puffy and i was concerned. my doc told me not to worry they would go back down in a few years, well here i am 5 years later and they are still the same. im not a big guy at all 5'10 155lbs so is this still considered gynecomastia? And ive heard people who have got their insurance to pay for it and was wondering how they did ( i have aenta). it is so embrassing having to wear 2 shirts and not going to the pool i mean i hate summer cause its 90 degrees and here i am with a shirt on. Some one help me please!

calm down
you probley have gyneocomastia and the way you described your build you probley have mainly gland tissue build up around the nipple area.
the bad news is the only cure is surgery the good news is your only 18 you still have lots of time to save up and get the surgery

get yourself a part time job and stick with it and you can get the surgery if i were you id save up extra for gas hotel stay all that so you have it good when the time comes

in the mean time just know yeah i have this condition but i can get it fixed
goodluck

Yes, it is considered gynecomastia regardless of your height/weight.

What did you think? That gynecomastia is just something 'fat guys' get?

Without regard for the specific company that provides your Medical coverage, each has policies with different levels of coverage. The lower cost policies have more exclusions in order to keep costs down.

The problem is wading through the "Legalese" language of the policy.

Even if the policy specifically excludes cosmetic surgery, Medical necessity can sometimes be established with the help of a Psychologist and your primary care Dr. Both of these would be covered usually by almost any policy.
