So a guy on indiegogo has set up a donation section to fund his operation, if you guys would be kind enough to let your friends know about this that would be great.

Most of us know what is he going through and I hope it succeeds.

I have lurked these boards for many years too but I managed to get surgery on the NHS but this fellow was not so lucky.

You don't have to donate but letting your friends know is enough cheers guys.

He apparently was bullied from a young age about it too.

He was talking about his condition on another message board and I added him to my friends last year.

I talked about my surgery to him and but he has tried many times to get surgery on the NHS and failed, it's bad considering his case is so bad and obvious to see.

My understanding of NHS is that they provide surgery quite often. Where I live it is common for a man to shoulder the entire burden of the cost himself. Insurance may cover the cost, but often it is not covered.

I have found that when something is really important to me I will find a way to pay for it myself. It all comes down to setting priorities.

It is not my intent to be heartless, but if this is really important to him he will find a way to get it done without begging for donations.

The problem with asking for donations online, especially one this site, is that everyone on here is in the same boat and no one can be 100% sure that the donations are going to what you say they are.  No one is rich, and the surgery is expensive.  I also don't want to sound heartless, but that's just he way it is.  There are many people on this board who would get surgery if they had the money, and they're either saving or finding another way to pay.  Has your friend tried going through insurance.  I went the insurance route and they paid for half of it.
