Hypo  quick question ,given the fact that zinc seemed to cause acne in my case when I took it, does that mean my testosterone  lvl was already okay?

Or was it just a conincidence as when I stopped the zinc the acne went away.

The only way that hormone levels are known is via the relevant pathology.  Assumptions can not and should not be made.

Of course if you experience any adverse effect from zinc supplementation you may wish to discontinue its use.

my first exact thought after i read this post, i went to my cabinet an checked my multi-vitamin. ive been takin a multi since ive started lifting. My case has gotten a lot better but im 99% sure its cuz of working  hard an losing weight.

Obviously that isn’t something I can comment on.

So taking 50mg of zinc  on top of the multi is a bad idea? Why bother even taking just zinc an copper that comes in the average multi vitamin an ur gettin other good vitamins for your body while you are at it. ???

The dose I have stated is that detailed by one the world’s top hormonal specialists.

The importance is in taking the stated dose, not more and not less.

If you take a multivitamin you would need to take that into account and ensure that you did not take more or less than that recommended by Dr Shippen.

50mg zinc and and some copper from a mens multi vitamin... would that do the trick?

I have stated the dosage I can’t really do much more than that.

Zinc can be bought with copper trace and alternatively zinc and copper can be bought separately.

Now you can do either of the above.  If you try and balance the zinc via copper in a multivitamin you would need to ensure that A) the zinc to copper balance was as stated and that B) the multivitamin did not also include zinc or if it did you would need to take that into account.

Guys this is NOT rocket science.

If you want to trial zinc and copper as stated and see how you feel- GO for it!

If you do not wish to trial zinc in the manner stated then of course- don’t.

It maybe worth reading my initial post that details the reasons that zinc can/may help men in our position.

I hope that helps.

hey hypo,

how high is the likelyhood of ending up with a copper problem if one supplements with zinc only chelate tabs every other day for a year or two?
... and the saga continues

Tony,

A copper imbalance in this instance comes from taking too much zinc and not adding copper as a supplementation.

It is easy to buy copper to go with the zinc suplementation or buy a zinc product that comes with trace of copper.

If you buy them separately and you add copper in the manner I stated then you would have the same zinc to copper ratio as you would if you took a product that had zinc with copper trace.

Either way you you wont get a copper imbalance.

So if you are going to trial zinc suplementation that is the way to do it.  If you try using 50mgs of zinc without copper then you might get a copper imbalance and experience the adverse effects of such.

Remember the reasons laid out for the use of zinc are given in my first post.

If you trial zinc supplementation and feel an improvement then continue to take it as long as you feel that it is worth in doing so.  If you do not feel a benefit or you feel any adverse effect then simply halt its use.

NOTE:

Again I am only detailing the benefits that can be seen by using a mineral supplement than many doctors acribe to (again see the first post).

I would obviously not be giving this information out if we were talking about prescribed drugs.

What we are talking about here is akin to detailing the benefits of vitamins, but in this case I am detailing the benefits of a natural mineral.

.maybe it'll just be safer for me to give up the zinc and just chill for a few months.
