Hi all,
 I am 28 years old, and have pretty severe gyne. you all know the drill, cant wear just a t shirt, constantly looking in mirror to see if your shirt shows it too much. Self conscious on what angle your pic is taken. Sit on couch, look down and see a big ol boob.

I am so sick of these.

I have a baby coming in 3 months, and wife says i need to do it now or it will be a long while before she can afford to have me out of action. Is it unwise to do this before a baby.
The risk of the surgery scares me, the anesthesia scares me, post op complications scare me.
he says he dosent like drains, but will make decision during surgery if it looks too 'wet' before he closes he might use them but wont know before surgery if yes or no.

I am a hair away from scheduling this but i am so scared and need some re assurance from those that have been there and done that. My doc prefers general and that makes me nervous, but with me being a bit overweight and having a big neck, its safer for me he says anyway.



I need excision of large gland, and some lipo to contour.. and i am sooooo scared and nervous.

what do i do guys? I have never had an operation or been put under so i am just all shook up.

I am in the same shoes as you...feeling scared about op as I have a low threshold to pain.

I am scheduled for a doc consultation and would like to ask him if i can bench-press my gyne away, i certainly hope so.

As for the impending baby, I agree with your wife to have your op done before her delivery.

If you trust your doctor and have the money- I'd say go for it. As long as you've checked other doctors and you're sure this is the one you want.

I'm also 28, but I have a 5 yr old. Let me tell you- it sucks going to the pool but pretending to not like swimming to avoid revealing the real reason you don't want to swim.

I'm looking into doing this soon, because I'm tired of not wearing tshirts. I'm tired of wearing button down shirts with double breasted pockets. They hide my lumps well, but I'm tired of it. I want to stand tall, in a tshirt. I white one. I want to walk around my own house without my shirt on.

If you have your chance, go for it. I'm growing depressed by this, and I hope I have the opportunity to get this addressed soon before I miss out on enjoying life.

From what I read that could make it look worse because the muscle is behind the gland so it will just push it out more. If it's just fat you may be able to lose it, but hips, gut, and breasts are the last place we lose weight. You'll be a twig.

I'm gonna just go for it. I have the money. I have flexibility at work. I need to just talk to some doctors and get the ball rolling.
We need to live our lives guys!

Yeah man you are right! We need to live our lives and stop being afraid of what others think about our chest.  In my case its pretty severe, probably a good size a cup or small b is my guess. A good handfull hahah.

i got the money, the surgeon is the best in the area, and he did my friends boob job and seems very confident.

They can do it as soon as june8 and they are just waiting on me to schedule it.


I hate being ashamed of my chest! My spare tire sucks too, but atleast with this gone i will have the courage to work out!

I haven't had the surgery yet but I had my first consultation 2 weeks ago. I think it went well. The surgeon really played down the procedure.  He said, it really wasn't anything. That was one of the most minor cosmetic procedures someone can do.  Point being, he really sold me on it.  He even went so far as to say that I wouldn't need to consult with my primary physician first.  

Anyhow, I went ahead and consulted with my primary physician two days ago and she basically echoed what he said.  She equated the procedure to having a benign cyst removed.  She said, all surgeries have complications but this is minimal because it's very minor.  It's a gland removal and some lipo.  She then said that there aren't that many blood vessels in the chest so it's not like other areas of the body that are impacted from multiple procedures at the same time, with the obstruction of multiple blood cells.  So basically, she echoed and reassured me that it would be okay.  I sure hope so, because i'm scheduling it for the end of June.

My biggest regret in life:  Not having done the surgery sooner. 

I waited until I was 40.  Almost a decade with my young kids avoiding the pool, avoiding the lake, not wanting to go out and be social with other families, worried about what I'm wearing, and on and on and on.  It not only destroys your life, it takes a toll on your family and your kids.  It sucks. 

But I was scared too.  Looking back now though I wonder what I was so scared about?  The surgery is relatively easy and a little pain for a gigantic gain!  I don't think I've ever been this excited to live life and it's had a huge positive effect on me and my family.

Keep in mind that the surgery may only provide an 80% improvement.  Or at least go in with that mindset.  Most get closer to 90 or 100% improvement but for me, just to be able to wear a tshirt again was my ultimate dream.  After 3 months post op I think I'm closer to 90 to 95% improvement and hoping that can only continue.  Looking forward to this summer and going swimming with the kids, playing in the sun, running around in a t-shirt, ripping it off if it's too hot.  I've got my life back man, I've got my friggin life back!!!  I say go for it and don't look back.  Be sure about your surgeon, your expectations and discuss your concerns here or with your surgeon.  Good luck!

Hey Dustman, I'm 31, and I'm 10 days post op with my second child due to be born in 3 weeks!!!

I think I know exactly what you are going through mentally trying to make the decision. My biggest worry was a complication and not being here to see my son born.....As you can tell, there wasnt a complication and all being well I'll meet him in 3 weeks  

By day 3 I was carrying shopping in from the car for the wife, changing my daughters nappy and generally carrying on with life, albeit a little restricted as to be expected, but in all honesty without any trouble at all.
I had glad removed and lipo done, travelled to the surgery and back on my own on the same day and felt pretty grand, not like I had just had surgery done...bearing in mind this was the first time I've been under a general I had no idea what to expect, but reading this forum took all my worries away.

I'm in the very early healing stages and can feel swelling coming on, but I know by this time next year I'll be a dad to 2 kids and be Gyne & care free.....being able to enjoy taking the kids to the swimming pool withouth connstantly pulling my nipples, to just walk around carefree and not limit my kids to anything because I feel self-consious.....that feeling is already in the back of my mind and I'm feel so happy that I went ahead with the surgery and can now put all of this behind me and just carry on like a normal dad would.

Go book surgery buddy, get those moobs removed and live life to the full with your wife and kids!

 I had some really big smiles reading the responses. You guys are great. Im gonna do it! There arent any gyne 'specilists' in my area, but my guy is board certified, has some nice before and after pics, and seems very knowledgeable. Been a plastic surgeon for 30+ years. Oddly enough he isnt a fan of the vests, he says he prefers gauze and lots of ace wrap, he says it provides more 'direct' pressure on the chest area than a vest.

Does this sound ok?

I think i am gonna go pay and schedule today!

Hey Dustman, I would say one thing : if you are going to part with 5K - go and find a gyne expert, that's top money, it might be worth the inconvenience, because you have to live with the result for the next 30+ years.
Even if it means staying away a couple of nights, it might be worth it in the long run...that's my opinion buddy, for the top money you are prepared to pay, get someone that is an expert in the field, not just a generalist.

I agree to an extent with chopper. I would seek at least a consultation of a PS who if not specializes in gyne- at least has done a lot of them.
I'm sure this PS can do fine, but the more experience the better.

Personally- I have my eye on 3 doctors in my area. 2 are listed on here and apparently do quite a few gyne operations. Dr Hamas and Dr Dr. Wilcox. The other is a PS I've seen for a scar and I liked how he talked to me. Was never pushy, never wanted to sell me, was very helpful and actually have emailed him back and forth a few times recently regarding gyne.

I would consult with at least 2 doctors after doing research online. Do your homework, then go for it.

U was under the impression that 5000 is a good price. Ive seen where others have spent 7k plus for much less severe gyne than mine.

Hey, all I can say is 3 weeks on, and despite having some post op issues (hopefully nothing) it's been no big deal.

I went in, I went under, woke up and it was done. Some soreness, and small range of movement.

Its like a sprained ankle for your breasts!
