if excess estrogen is the underlying problem for gyne, what steps would an endrocrinologist take to fix the problem?  Would you be put on estrogen blockers (or something of the like) for a long time?  Would that fix the problem?

it very much depends on how forward thinking the endocrinologist is, whether he is a general endo or one who is aware of the latest thoughts on reproductive endocrinology.  It also depends what country you are in and how you have presented clinically.

If your estrogen/estradiol is very high then most good endocrinologists would consider using an anti estrogen or aromatase inhibitor unless you were going through puberty and the problem was thought to be temporary.

If your estrogen/estradiol was above or high in the reference range but not very high then only very forward thinking/progressive endocrinologists would tend to treat, again the clinical picture and country of origin would come into it.

Many people's cases are more complicated and obtaining treatment in such cases is far more difficult.

First and foremost though a good endocrinologists will attempt to ascertain the aetiology/cause of the gynecomastia and rule out any serious causes as well as possible medicines that could be causing the problem.

For these reasons it is always prudent to see an endocrinologist, particularly so if you are considering seeing a PS and having the gynecomastia removed.

Most people do not have any problems and the appointment is routine, but it is a very important assurance that all men in our predicament should gain given that a significant minority of men do have issues that need addressing.
