Dr Bermant this question relates to medication side effect enduced gynocomastia.

Is their a time frame a person should wait after developing gyno from medication, to actually having it surgically removed? How soon would be to soon and what would be the minimum wait.

Also are their any other factors to be considered or things to do beforehand?

Medication caused gynecomastia is best surgically sculpted when stable.  For some, stopping a stimulus can reverse gynecomastia.  For others, stopping a stimulus just stops further growth, what has grown does not regress.

Not all medications can be stopped.  Some must take medications that cause gynecomastia.  In such cases, surgery will not stop further growth.  Each case is best individualized during an evaluation.  Check with your medical doctor before stopping any medication.  Advise your doctor about your concerns for the gynecomastia and review your options.

The medication has been ceased as it was an unneccesary substance, and the doctor said it may reverse itself in time. Its looking unlikely though.

How long would you think would then be best to wait before opting for surgery?

That is a question with no real answer.  Being patient can be valuable when changes do happen.  For others, it is a waste of time that they could have fixed the problem with surgery.  Each case is different and best explored with your doctor.
