Hi all. I had a bilateral mastectomy and free nipple graft on April 13 of this year. I was elated to finally see a relatively flat chest. However, after almost 3 months the long scar I have is as prevalent as it was the day after surgery. I use vitamin E cream twice a day and don't notice any fading what so ever. Has this occurred to any of you who have had similar surgery?

Relax.  If the scar is flat and narrow, that is good.  Any redness in the scar will fade in time -- but it will take months or even perhaps a year.  Be patient.

The only general suggestion is to apply sunblock to any fresh scar.  Sunlight on a scar will keep it redder for a longer period of time.

I haven't seen my scarring yet.  But I really don't worry/care It's not like the whole world will see it.  Just eventually one day a loved one will no bid deal :).  Nobody is perfect.

Thanks Dr. Jacobs. I'm not overly impatient :)
I just wanted to know if my situation was the norm.
