Shyness due to gyne?

Has anyone else noticed themselves becoming noticeably more shy, due to their gyne? I remember being young, more outgoing, and you could even say more "alpha." After having this condition, I feel that I am more introverted, and prefer to have less attention on me, because there is less of a chance of someone noticing..

Many of my patients, either directly or via comments from their parents, do become withdrawn for fear of causing embarrassment to themselves.  Often, they do not participate in sports which require a bare chest (ie swimming, skins and shirts basketball, etc).  The summertime, with T-shirts revealing their problem, frequently becomes a nightmare.  And forget going to a beach or a pool -- never without wearing a shirt.

Yes, this shyness frequently occurs -- mostly in adolescents.

You are right on target. There can be a great deal of Emotion and Stress Living with Gynecomastia as that patient put is so well during his video. What is even more fascinating is the transformation my patients describe after surgery. There are a number of such video clips on my website discussing similar issues. I have also noted a similar transformation for my men using Body Shaping Garments as a contouring option while they stabilize their problem or lose weight. That relief is instantaneous, just putting on the garment brings a smile on their faces, it is a pleasure to watch.

Anyway, gynecomastia is a socially crippling condition. If you're anything like the rest of us, then gyne has had a substantial impact on your life. Gynecomastia is like an iceberg; the gyne that you see is only the tip of the problem- there's all sorts of latent psychological issues and hangups.

Hehe I remember when I had the bandages removed a few days ago and was walking around the house in the vest, kept smiling as i walked past the mirror (every 3 seconds). The smiles quickly stopped when i took the vest off tho . (allthough im sure the smile will come back when things settle down)

They do seem to work wonders those vests though I wish I knew they existed when I was younger.

Yes, I have had gyne since puberty. I have suffered the same ridicule, snide remarks, embarrassment, etc that many on this forum have written about.  I understand and empathize with all the guys who suffer with gyne.

When I was young, I didn't know what it was (thought I was just a bit chubby) but when I lost the weight during my teen years, the gyne remained.  My physician just patted me on the shoulder and told me to "wait it out because it would go away."  But it never did.

During my training in general surgery, I witnessed lengthy and oftentimes very bloody operations that left patients with huge, ugly scars and irregular contours -- and sometimes major complications.  It seemed the cure was worse than the problem!  There was no better way to deal with it until liposuction came along.  I had just completed my plastic surgical training at that time -- and I began to use liposuction to treat gynecomastia.  Over the years, the instruments have improved significantly (along the way, I designed my own instruments to remove both fat and breast tissue) and the techniques have evolved so that the most minimal incisions are used to perform the operation, virtually bloodlessly, in about an hour or so, with extremely minimal complications and minimal scars.

That is why I have sub-specialized in gynecomastia surgery -- I have a huge amount of empathy and concern for all the guys who have this problem.  

Have I had mine treated?  Unfortunately, some medical conditions preclude that possibility and so I live with it.  But I take extreme pleasure in helping so many others cross over to "the other side."
