I wore a vest for about 3 weeks.  Im not too sure how long the surgery lasted.  They gave me some valium, so I was VERY relaxed and actually didnt remember much of surgery. I would say that the procedure alone took about 45 min to an hour.  And your questions are not a bother at all.  Im glad I can help you out since I was in the exact same position as you are.

Thats the exact vest.  For the first 2 days I wore a velcro garment stuffed with padding.  Then after my first shower (2 days after the procedure), I put the other vest on.

Just as a warning, with those vests your gonna need to step into them like shorts and pull them all the way up.  They're too tight to put on over your head.
