Let me start out by saying I am overweight but have lost 17 pounds in the last 3 months or so so I'm working on it. My question is how do I tell if it's gynecomastia or fat. Or both. There's no ball or anything under the nipple but there sort of like strings or just spots where there are hard things. They're both sort of painful when I feel around but not to bad so maybe just normal pressing pain.any help would be appreciated

That actually sounds like breast tissue. I've lived with it all my life and have grown very large due to the loss of my testicles and have had to learn to do self exams and have no idea how to tell what would be new hard spots!

Being that you have been over weight you most likely did developed some extra breast tissue. Everyone is born with it,  it is just a mater of if you get to much and if you can live with it you will need surgery to get rid of it. Unfortunately surgery is the only way to get rid of it.

Gynecomastia is a term that is use to describe breast  enlargement in males, so just to clarify that for you it does not mater if it is mostly fat or breast tissue it still is gyne.

Hope this helps, sorry it isn't good news!

No that's ok it's sorta what I expected but I'd talk to a doctor about it about a year or so ago he seemed to think the hardness was something to due with cramps and muscle spasms type hints if that makes sense I don't know. I have an anxiety disorder so it's sort of hard to talk to anyone about it especially in person. Here's some pics and as I said working on losing weight lol maybe that will help some? It actually won't let me attach the pictures

You should be able to attach the pictures using the additional options below. Be sure to use JPEG or the lowest setting for the size of your pictures as the forum will not allow large ones and there distorted anyway.

I would PM you my email but by posting your pictures you will get others to respond.

P.S. Female doctors are sometimes better to work with when it comes to male breast issues! I'm 56 and have been dealing with it all my life and due to health reasons grown to 46H, and my female primary care doctor at the VA hospital in Minneapolis told me to go for a professional bra fitting. It was a great thing to do!
You may want to consider a female endocrinologist.

My wife and family are very supportive of this. You can read about this all in stories. (My story after all these years)

I've never tried to resize photos from my iPad so I'll be no help there sorry, but if you have a laptop you could try to resize if you email to yourself.

I use me phone (Galaxy note 3) or my digital camera for these type pictures. My camera is capable to go 4:3 all the way to poster size picture, but I have no idea if I would ever use the poster size print except I use it for the hight definition with pictures 8x10 talk about NICE color and detail.

Yep it worked just fine! You have mild gynecomastia, so the question is my friend how bad does it bother you? The only way to rid yourself of it is surgery and if you decide to do that be sure to find a very experienced  surgeon that does a lot of this type go surgery or you could end up looking worse!

There is a lot of info right here on the forum to help you find a good surgeon or if you decide not to we have a good section on acceptance as well, it's your call.

Welcome to the forum!

Here's my thought and please tell me if I'm wrong. I'm thinking it's both fat and gyne. I'm obviously not in shape so once I lose the weight I want to I'm hoping they get at least a little smaller. I guess I'm k with the way they are now as I don't hVe the money for surgery as long as it doesn't get worse.

Those were always my feeling about them, didn't much care, still don't even though they got so big, wife doesn't care either!

The only problem is that is the last place we men loss weight, so if your fine with that, then don't worry about it. Truth is other people really don't notice or care anyway, not like some guys think they do.

As far as I'm concern it would be a waist of money, but that is my opinion, and you know what they say. "Opinions are like assholes, we all have them and they all stink"! LOL

As I said I have pretty bad anxiety disorder so it's hard telling myself people don't like laugh or anything. So you don't think losing weight will help at all? Or anything else for that matter? I really just don't want it to get any bigger. Thanks for all your help by the way. It is really appreciated

You know that those bump on your chest are only extra breast tissue, fat and skin, and they don't make you the man that you are, they are no more in control then your fingers, toes, or your ears and nose! It is your heart and mind, what you have between your ears that make you who you are! The son that your parents have, the friend, brother, grandson that to are to your loved ones not your skin or what in under your skin it is what is in your heart, mind your soul!

Think about what I wrote above, you are a man with a heart and mind to control your body, not a body to control your heart and mind.

God bless,

Bob

Sorry I've been trying to keep my mind off of things but think my right side is getting progressively worse. I was taking Klonopin everyday for five and just read a couple places long term use of that can cause gyno as well. It's been about a month and a half since I last took any though so hopefully that will help when I'm not on it. Think I should make a trip to the doctor to get some blood work done for test prone levels and stuff?
