What's the deal with the hairy chests?

Does it help hide your gynecomastia? I notice a lot of guys on these boards have a shag carpet on their chest... I'm just curious.

My Gynecomastia came on about the age of 12.  I didn't have a significant amount of chest hair until a dozen years later but I think it really did help to conceal the condition.
