Why are endocrinologist recommended before surgery?

Hey Guys I've been reading posts on this site for several months now and am finally planning to have surgery here soon
thanks to the insite you all have given. One thing Im not so sure about is the reason for going to see a endocrinologist.
I know i have gynecomastia and have had it since i was a child, so what is the point? Im now 31. Thanks for any imput.

To see if the problem is hormonal. If it is hormonal, the gyne can come back after surgery.
