Am looking at joining a gym to bulk up a bit. Will this make my gynecomastia larger when doing exercises like push ups and other stuff that usually enhances the breast area?

It may look a bit larger, but size isn't everything. If you improve the look of your chest (talking about the musculature) hopefully the gains in general appearance outweigh the fact that maybe your gyne is pushed out a bit further. A well-developed chest CAN work as a distraction from your gyne, even as it is drawing eyes TO your chest.

Having said that - no, weight training will not cause your gyne to develope further or faster. All you are doing is building muscle BEHIND your gyne. You have to look at the cumulative effect of having a developed chest area with gyne and compare it to the cumulative effect of having an undeveloped or flabby chest area with gyne.

Personally I err on the side of WORKING the chest.

I lift 3 times a week, and since starting my workout almost 2 years ago, I have noticed only positive results with my Gynecomastia.

First, to debunk a common myth for weight training: Just because you're lifting a lot of weight doesn't mean you'll bulk up and look like the incredible hulk. Diet is about 70% of what your body is capable of achieving. If you are taking in massive amounts of carbohydrates and protein, you have the ability to grow until you have to start buying larger shirts to fit your stupid huge arms.

However, if you eat like I do, ingesting a lot of protein, very very little fat, and mainly complex carbohydrates (still cut heavily from the "recommeded" daily dosage) you can lift as much as you want and only gain to a certain point, after that, you're just toning and getting very cut.

Also: More weight, less reps = Very nice definition and tone.

ANYWAY - Weight training will create muscle. Muscle burns fat. A lot of Gynecomastia is caused by fatty tissue in front of the pectoralis major (your pec, or boob). So, here's some very easy math: More muscle = less fat.

You can't cure Gynecomastia by working out, but you can damn sure make yourself look much better, feel much better, and give yourself confidence that you are probably lacking from realizing that you have gynecomastia in the first place.

Workouts you will want to avoid, if you're looking for a flatter chest rather than a bulky and burly build: anything that specifically works your mid-chest. Between both pecs.

If you use improper form while benchpressing or doing incline flies, you will notice a lot of growth in the middle of your chest. This will just make your boobs look more round, and probably embarass you more.
