For the benifit of HHH, a few choice cuts form the Duke of Edinburgh:

"Quotes from Prince Philip

1) Accepting a small gift from a Kenyan native woman, the
Duke asked: "You are a woman, aren't you?"

2) He described Peking as "ghastly" and told British
students "If you stay much longer you'll all be slitty-eyed."

3) He told a World Wildlife Fund function: "If it has got
four legs and it is not a chair, if it has got two wings and it flies but
is not an aeroplane, and if it swims and it is not a submarine, the
Cantonese will eat it."

4) He told a Briton in Hungary: "You can't have been here
that long, you haven't got a pot belly."

5) Asked to stroke a koala bear, he said: "Oh, no, I might
catch some ghastly disease."

6) He asked a wealthy Cayman Islander: "Aren't most of you
descended from pirates?"

7) He welcomed German Chancellor Helmut Kohl at a trade
fair as "Reichskanzler". The last German leader who used the title was
Hitler.

8) In Oban, Scotland, he asked a driving instructor: "How
do you keep the natives off the booze long enough to get them to pass
test?"

9) After the Dunblane massacre, he said: "If a cricketer
suddenly decided to go into a school and batter a lot of people to death
with a cricket bat, are you going to ban cricket bats?"

10) He went to Amritsar, where 379 Indians were slaughtered by the
British Army in 1919, and queried a plaque claiming 2,000 had died, saying:
"The number is less."

11) He "commiserated" with Brunei students flying to study
in Glasgow.

12) He suggested Papua tribes are still cannibals, telling
a student trekking: "You managed not to get eaten, then."

13) He told deaf people near a steel band: "Deaf? If you
are near there, no wonder you are deaf."

and of course...

14) the Gaffer, as he is known, said a dodgy
looking fuse box at a hi-tech factory looked "as if it was put in by an
Indian."

Good old Phil: Flying the flag for a multi cultural Britain. Enjoy.

Merv.

i try to avoid saying this, but oh my g*d, i'm mailing those to someone  :D

not that the current us president doesn't have his share of mangled or unclueful quotables too.  and then there were the reagan lists, like the time he turned to the lebanese foreign minister and said you know your nose looks just like danny kaye  :o

cream doesn't seem to be the only thing that floats to a surface, does it.

INTERESTING....AS A DISTANT MEMBER OF THE ROYAL FAMILY; THERE FACTS THAT ARE DEFINATELY NOT BEING BROUGHT UP HERE  FIRST AND FORMOST THEY DO WORK! THEY ARE ALSO ALLOWED TIME BEFORE ASCENTION TO GO AND GET JOBS AND LIVE NORMAL LIVES. THOUGH I DO AGREE THAT THIS HAS NEVER BEEN THE CASE WITH CHARLES.  PRINCE PHILIP HAD TO DO EVERYTHING TO GET THAT LUMP OFF HIS ROYAL RUMP!
THE QUEEN IS AN AMAZING WOMAN AND A TESTIMATE OF HER GENERATION AND TIMES AS WAS HER MUM..BASICALLY RAN THE MONARCHY BECAUSE GEORGE COULD NOT.  IT IS TRUE THAT, IF ANYTHING; CHARLES FAILS TO REPRESENT HIS AND OUR GENERATIONS...AND NO WHINEY EXCUSE OF HIS WILL CHANGE THAT.  THE FACT IS THAT WE AS A SOCIETY HAVE EXPERIENCES 3 GENERATIONAL CHANGES IN THE SAME TIME IT TAKES TO HAVE ONE. WILLIAM HAS AND STANDS A BETTER CHANCE TO RULE.  AND JUST A LITTLE REMINDER...WHAT HAPPENED TO THE FIRST 2 BONNIE CHARLIES!  AND WHAT WERE THE RECORDS OF THE WILLIAMS.

  • Surgery done, all good
In response to HeadHeldHigh01's question about the British public's opinion of the royal wedding, may I reveal the results of a recent poll:

37% - Couldn't care less
24% - Couldn't give a flying f*ck
21% - Really don't care at all
18% - Too busy to even give it a second thought

Hope this helps.
