Hey all, due to all your support and all the diaries posted i think its time to give everyone something back and write my own diary and the good experience i have had through the NHS and the surgeon Mr Fortune Iwuagwu.

Saturday 28/03/09

I got to the hospital at 8 am and was sitting in the day room for an incredible 3 hours lol they did come and apologize and told me that there was an emergency thats why i haven't been seen yet. Never the less i didn't care about that, all i cared about was how thirsty i was lol. The head nurse came and took me into a room where my blood pressure was taken as well as my chest measurements and leg measurements for the vest and sexy stockings lol. I got send to my room which was a single room and i was happy bout that, had my own TV and a great view actually :) at about 2 o clock the surgeon came in and apologized, he told me that there was a emergency (later on i found out it was a guy that chopped his hand of and due to my surgeon being a specialist in hand and breast reconstruction he had to perform surgery) we had a chat of how the final procedures will be, he drew on my chest told me how it would go, not to worry and i signed the papers stating what was to be done.
Then the anesthetist came in and told me how he would procede, i told him i was terrified of needles so he actually done me the favor of giving me a tiny little injection that numbed my arm so he could slide in the canule thingy.
I was then taken on my bed to a room just before the theater where i then got connected to all these machines... (bit freaky) i then got the injection as said and the anesthetic. i took 3 deep breaths of oxygen and started counting 10 - 9 - 8 i was going to ask how quick this works and i was already gone lol!
It seemed to me like a second later that i woke up feeling GREAT! i never felt so good lol i had the nurse sitting beside me just like she said she would that told me that it was a full on success. at this point all i could think of was having a pee lol i needed one soooo bad i filled up almost 2 of those pee bottles (peeing laying down is the worst and most awkward things u can do lol) i got taken back to my room where my misses was waiting for me which was really nice it was now about 5 pm.
I got lots of water and a tee with some biscuits which i was happy about. about an hour later i had my dinner standing there ready which actually tasted really nice. Chicken with vegetables, potatoes and gravy yummi lol i rinsed the whole plate and as for the desert i had a trifle and the cheek to ask for another one which i got aswell lol. Due to it being so late i then stayed for the night which i didn't mind. I was in quite a bit of discomfort though so i asked for pain relief and got oralmorph which made me feel great again  ;D (what a wicked stuff)

Sunday 29/03/09
i woke up and i got my medicine and breakfast (i had some weatabix) i was told that i was able to leave that day if i feel fit enough which i did. I slept almost all day because of the medicine, got woken up for lunch which was a nice roast dinner (also fresh and good tasting) i scuffed it all down again lol.
at about 4 pm the nurses checked on me and gave me all the papers inc little manuals on what to do to prevent infections, scaring etc etc which was really good! i then signed the leaving forms and at about 4:30 i was out of the hospital and was taken home by a mate.
I must really say, St Andrews at broomfield hospital (the billericay ward) is amazing! sooo nice and caring nurses! not a single one that was in a bad mood or stressy! and the surgeon i had has done a amazing job! all in all i must say i am really happy that i have done this and the NHS has done a superb job and i can only recommend the hospital and surgeon!!!
When i got home it was basically just laying on the sofa like a lazy person lol my misses made us a nice dinner and after that i went to bed. surprisingly i fell asleep straight away.

Monday 30/03/09
Got woken up by my dog lol he was sitting with his head on the bed beside mine and OMG his breath STANK! ROFL he knew that i wasn't well i think, thats how he acted at least :)
Got a nice breakfast made by my misses again and then had my tablets. It was another lazy day as all i done was sit on the sofa and moan how uncomfortable i was lol (not pain! just discomfort)

Tuesday 31/03/09
Again a bit of a lazy day. My wounds are starting to itch though which is pretty annoying lol. I got fed up with sitting indoors so i decided to go for a walk to my work and hand them in the sick note :) half way back i got dizzy though and i was glad to be back home and on the sofa.

Glad it all went well, it's a great feeling going to the wardrobe and just taking out whatever you want to wear.

I'm just over 5 weeks now, and get a little swelling where I had all the bruising on one side, but that is normal for quite a while.

You'll soon put it all behind you, and look at this board less and less.

Take it easy  ;)
Took the plunge and had consultation with Dr. Karidis 7th January 2009.
Surgery 26th February 2009.
Just wish I'd been able to do this years ago.
