Hi all .. Had my corrective surgery today and currently lay up in hospital and preparing for a nights sleep.
They have put me in DVT sock and some sort of inflatable bags strapped around my calves which inflate and deflate every 30 seconds or so... Very Annoying and I'm not going to be able to sleep through this. Is it really neccassary?

These are standard precautions which are taken during and post surgery.  Not every surgeon uses them for gyne surgery, however.
In my practice, I use the compression device on the calves during surgery -- but that's it.  I do not require post op compression socks because my patients are able to walk and keep their leg circulation moving.
