Post surgery, different volumes of liquids were discharged from the left and the right breasts. The doctor said its normal for different volumes to be discharged and not to be worried off. Plz let me know if it is ok? thanks.

I don't generally use drains for gynecomastia surgery, but when they are used, there is often a difference in the drainage from side to side.  If one side is excessively high and bloody, and that side is more swollen than the other, it might suggest a hematoma, but otherwise, there's not much meaning to it.

Agree with Dr. Silverman.  I, too, very rarely use drains but if I do, there is no concern if there is a difference in the amount of drainage from either side.  In virtually all cases, I remove the drains in 1-2 days.

Thanks Dr. Silverman and Dr. Jacobs for your revert- it was very helpful.

Even in my case, no drains were used. I was told to expect some discharge over my dressing and more the discharge, better it is. Hnace the question.
