He is embarressed to go on hols with his pal and there family coz he wil be swimming etc so i found this site while checkin info to try put his mind at ease. he has had this for the last year and a half and i have read that this is normal in teenage boys and last for about 3 years is this right? i know u will say go to the doc but he is not a fan of the doctors so would have a prob gettin him there. do u think the symtems i described are normal for the start of gyne that eventually they will go itself or any medication i cud get to try help . any advice would be gr8.

!3 is adolenances Gynecomastia more than likely and not uncommom, almost all boys of that age grow out of it, take himto your family doctor and ask him or her for their opinion.  You will probably gey lots of opinions on here, but none of the are qualified to dianose just from a discription or even from pictures.  Go to the doctor so you are not worried about something that don't need to!

I know its upsetting for him, but seriously take him to the doctor. Try and get a female doctor or at least an understanding one in your practice. I mean IF the doctor prescribed him a drug (at his age its rare) then its going to be an anti estrogen if you start messing about with kids testerone/estrogen levels at an early age then you can do damage. Which is why you MUST see a doctor to not get the drugs off the internet!

some kids DO grow out of it. The only person who is going to be able to give you the correct advice is a doctor/specialist and if he doenst want to go then well ...... tell him tough hes got to go

I mean im going to put myself in your shoes, because if i have a boy there is an extremley high chance he will have gynecomastia (and it wont go away) because its a common thing in my family. Id be dragging him kicking and screaming to the doctors because it really had a negative affect on my life. Tough love can be good at times and he will thank you down the line! Also the fact that it cost me £4500 to get this fixed when maybe if i went to the doctors at his age then i could have got it sorted.

Giantfan, if you do a search, MOST boys do get some form of gyne during adolescence and it almost always goes away within a few months.  It's a normal part of development.  If it doesn't go away after a year or two or gets worse, then there's a problem.  You can't possibly know about all the people who had gyne for six months during puberty because guess what, they probably weren't showing you their nipples everyday at the time.  Teenagers who come to this site absolutely need to wait it out, especially if they only have a puffy nipple issue, it is very very common.
