Title: Survey on developing and living with gynecomastia
Post by: Cisco on July 30, 2017, 06:13:01 PM
A few year ago we conducted a census of the members about their experiences with having gyno and wearing bras.  Perhaps it's time to conduct an update on the survey.
1. At what age was your onset of gynecomastia? Was there any additional growth after the initial onset and to what extent?
2. What was the primary cause (ie unresolved hormone imbalance as a teenager, side effect of medication etc)
3. At what age did you begin to experiment with wearing a bra, at what age did you begin to wear a bra regularly, what is your current age?
4. What is your bra size?
5. What is your preferred style of bra?
6. What do you see as the benefits to wearing a bra?

My teen year, but never really payed attention to it! In my early 30's  I noticed extra growth and started to wear a bra off and on. Then in my mid 30's I lost my testicles so they grew like well watered weds!

2. What was the primary cause (ie unresolved hormone imbalance as a teenager, side effect of medication etc)

Don't know why as a teen, but after my vasectomy,  my testicles died, they rotted and had to be removed. The doctor figured that after my vasectomy my auto immune system attacked them as a foreign body because they no longer worked normal.

3. At what age did you begin to experiment with wearing a bra, at what age did you begin to wear a bra regularly, what is your current age?

Early 30's, 40's I'm now 59

4. What is your bra size?

46H

5. What is your preferred style of bra?

Soft cup, full figure

6. What do you see as the benefits to wearing a bra?

Comfort and support, prevention of under breast rash!

1. At what age was your onset of gynecomastia? Was there any additional growth after the initial onset and to what extent?
I was diagnosed after a mammogram at age 63, I think. However, looking back I realize I have had puffy nipples and slightly enlarged breasts since my teen years. Fortunately, I was never kidded about it, although I felt somewhat self-conscious because I realized I was larger than other boys. Since I wasn't all that athletic there wasn't much occasion to be topless in front of other kids except at the swimming pool, but still not teasing, thankfully. I have had only slight growth since diagnosis.
2. What was the primary cause (ie unresolved hormone imbalance as a teenager, side effect of medication etc)
I have no idea what the cause is, and I don't plan to delve into it unless they just grow huge.
3. At what age did you begin to experiment with wearing a bra, at what age did you begin to wear a bra regularly, what is your current age?
I began experimenting with wearing a bra occasionally within about 6 months of diagnosis, but my wife wasn't supportive at that time. I began wearing a bra regularly at about 64, and I wear one every day now. My wife finally fully accepts that I wear a bra. I just turned 66.
4. What is your bra size?
I wear 38B to get a good fit in the cups, but I have to also have an extender in order to fit around me.
5. What is your preferred style of bra?
I only wear underwire and mostly T-shirt type bras. My preferred bras are Bali's "ultra light" collection because they provide good shape and seem to be cooler than most other T-shirt bras I have tried. Bali also seems to fit me best.
6. What do you see as the benefits to wearing a bra?
Comfort and protection for my nipples! I like the fact that nothing moves as much when I wear a bra, and I especially like the fact that if I hit or snag a nipple on something there is some protection. I especially hate driving without a bra because the seatbelt really irritates my nipples.

12 years of age.
Puberty.
Started at the age of about 28.  I wore a binder, similar toa modern athletic bra.  It was not worn all the time, only when involved in active sports to control bounce.  I am currently 80 years of age.
46 B
Athletic.
I have never felt the need of a bra for support, except when involved in rigorous activities when the bounce control is a real asset.   Obviously at my current age I am not too much into athletic pursuits.

1. At what age was your onset of gynecomastia? Was there any additional growth after the initial onset and to what extent?
12 years old. It kept growing during time. I had a couple of huge burst at 16 and 21.
2. What was the primary cause (ie unresolved hormone imbalance as a teenager, side effect of medication etc)
Hormonal imbalance
3. At what age did you begin to experiment with wearing a bra, at what age did you begin to wear a bra regularly, what is your current age?
First experience at 13/14 then during teen years (never regularly). After 21 started to be more regular ending with final acceptance also due to the increased size.
4. What is your bra size?
40D
5. What is your preferred style of bra?
Sports, minimizers, full cup
6. What do you see as the benefits to wearing a bra?
Comfort and concealment. For example I would stop bouncing with my hands (running, stairs etc...) and minimizers are good for concealment.

Nipples always sensitive. Always a strange constant elect feeling inside breasts. Always seem to be growing some. Sometimes obvious. Maybe they will stop getting bigger? Are yours still growing now?

1. not sure but before high school.
Yes, tons more growth every year, then I took a medication near the end of high school .. and it got wayyy worse.  Hasn't stopped growing yet..

2. don't know .. never been to a doctor .. but i went on a medication when i was near the end of high school and that def feels like it made them grow *way* more.

3. I've never worn a bra.  25 years old.

4. 34JJ

5. don't know .. never worn one yet

6. don't know yet .. for stability I guess.  I think it's going to make them way harder to hide with a bra.

1. At what age was your onset of gynecomastia? Was there any additional growth after the initial onset and to what extent? 24, growth stalled quite quickly but when I turned 30 it began to grow more.
2. What was the primary cause (ie unresolved hormone imbalance as a teenager, side effect of medication etc) Idiopathic is the cause i was given. Seen 2 endocronologists and a GP who can't pin point the issue. Blood levels come back in the normal range and they can't figure it out, they tell me it's more common than I think but i feel thats just to give me false comfort
3. At what age did you begin to experiment with wearing a bra, at what age did you begin to wear a bra regularly, what is your current age?
I began wearing a bra halfway through age 30 when I began noticing on the forklifts at work i was bouncing and would get sore. I would wear. My wife is not appealing to the idea so I quit wearing them and tossed them out. I began developing more toward 31 and just gave in and bought a few comfort sport bras from walmart and a couple other padless bralettes on ebay victoria secret and other brands that were cheap for sale for around the house and yard work. I wear one fairly regularly unless I know the wife and I will be with one another all day than I go without as I know her reaction will not be pleasant. I am currently 31 as of this past june.
4. What is your bra size? 36A/34b
5. What is your preferred style of bra? comfort bras like barely there, or bralettes
6. What do you see as the benefits to wearing a bra? comfort, compression in some cases, confidence in others knowing i am not showing a droopy chest appearance. I'd rather have a slight rounded projection than the braless boobs going from eachother look. Just hate how noticeable the cups become even in padless but stlil provides a sense of security

1.  When I was 11 I started growing a pointy breast. And it become larger and at 15 years old. It looks like a teenage woman breast.

2. I don't know since I didn't go to doctor but I feel like it was hormone imbalance.

3. At 15. I asked to my mom if I could wear a bra. She agrees with me because it become uncomfortable now. I'm 15 now and started wearing bra daily. I experiment wearing bra at 15 and start wearing at 15.

4. 36C, 36B or 38C

5. I mostly wear non padded bras and sports bra. My sister also buy a different kinds of bra to see if it looks good on me like push up bra, sexy bras etc.

6. Mostly comfort. I wear non padded bras and t shirt bra at home because they feel very comfortable but make my breast look rounder. I wear sports bra outside because it flattens my chest and look less noticable in shirt. But its not very comfortable.

At what age was your onset of gynecomastia?  Somewhere around 12 or 13, it “peaked” around 14 and leveled off in size.

Was there any additional growth after the initial onset and to what extent?  Yes in middle age, after inguinal hernia surgery, I noticed they increased again.  I think the size is again somewhat stable.

What was the primary cause?  Originally puberty, later on age combined with what at least 2 doctors believe a not very well performed hernia surgery.

At what age did you begin to experiment with wearing a bra, at what age did you begin to wear a bra regularly, what is your current age?  I have never worn a bra; I did wear like a compression shirt sort of thing for running and activities like that.  When I was younger I was crazy enough to run a couple 5Ks, I would practice with like an ace bandage around my chest because my nipple would become irritated and start to bleed.  Age now is 65.

What is your bra size?  Not sure, I was mostly about a “B” cup.  But my wife says lately they are bigger than “B” but that is because I have put on some weight.  I am on a diet and they haven’t gotten any smaller yet, but I am only down 5 pounds or so.

What is your preferred style of bra?  I don’t have a preferred style—except on my wife.

What do you see as the benefits to wearing a bra?  Support for breasts and back.  I haven’t worn one but have contemplated it because of back issues.  I do wear a compression shirt with a suit or “double breasted suit” would take on a whole new meaning.  For my daughter’s wedding several years ago I got a very tight one to fit for the wedding, worked well to fit the tux.

This survey was posted about two weeks and there have been more than 700 Views however only 16 Replies.  There's strength in numbers only by sharing in our common  experiences can we individually draw encouragement  and strength.  Take a moment and record your life experience as a man with breasts.

Relative to the questions:
1) I cannot really say when gynecomastia started but I finally recognized I had boobs about 4 years ago when I was 60. At that time I was a sincere 44A and could fill the cup completely. As to additional growth...are you kidding? Went from that 44A to my present 46DD/DDD and still growing.
2) Primary cause was hormone imbalance that was exacerbated by needing to take medication for my prostate.
3) The bra started 2.5 years ago out of necessity. Without the bra the upper chest pain, upper back pain and fatigue were extreme. I must wear a bra regularly and I am currently 64 years old.
4) I currently wear either a 46DD or a 46DDD depending on the bra manufacturer.
5) Full coverage underwire! I cannot get the support I need without one.
6) Wearing a bra supports my breasts adding shape and form to them as well as taking the strain off of my upper back and upper chest.

Addendum as of October 31, 2019: I am currently 66 years old, on the outside but 24 years old inside, The former 46DD is now 46G/H. Still wear an underwire. Be well all!

I don't know about initially, I think i had it back in high school.  I recognized it shortly before turning 40- I've only been tracking growth since about a month ago.  They *feel* fuller, but that's just feel.

2. What was the primary cause (ie unresolved hormone imbalance as a teenager, side effect of medication etc)
Unknown

3. At what age did you begin to experiment with wearing a bra, at what age did you begin to wear a bra regularly, what is your current age?
39 for experiment, just a week ago for regularly, at age 40

4. What is your bra size?
According to online measurements, 42G, in practice closer to 42 c or d

5. What is your preferred style of bra?
I don't have a preference yet

6. What do you see as the benefits to wearing a bra?
For me it's primarily about protecting my (now) sensitive nipples, though the support is something I'd never thought about... It feels nice.
After only a week, I already feel weird when I don't wear one.

It appeared at age 56 after my radical prostatectomy. I have also lost both my testes over the course of 12 years with the last one being removed in 2017.  My body attacked them after my vasectomy. I am currently on T replacement.
2. What was the primary cause (ie unresolved hormone imbalance as a teenager, side effect of medication etc) Low T causing an imbalance between T and E.
3. At what age did you begin to experiment with wearing a bra, at what age did you begin to wear a bra regularly, what is your current age? 57

So I'm not they only one who lost his testicles after a vasectomy! I have never meet anyone before, however I figured I wasn't alone! I was 34/35. They removed the 1st thinking that it was cancer, but it had rotted then took a year before removing the 2nd after testing my T levels were so low that they figured the other was rotted too, as it was hurting still and sure enough it was. Life still goes on with out them, just with breast that grow like well watered weeds!

1. At what age was your onset of gynecomastia? Was there any additional growth after the initial onset and to what extent?  I noticed them at age 69.  I am now 70.  They seem be growing but very slowly.
2. What was the primary cause (ie unresolved hormone imbalance as a teenager, side effect of medication etc) No idea.  My testosterone is right where it should be and my doctor doesn't seem too concerned about them.
3. At what age did you begin to experiment with wearing a bra, at what age did you begin to wear a bra regularly, what is your current age? Started wearing one regularly about 6 months ago.
4. What is your bra size? Probably 42A.  The cups are loose on a 42B.  See question 5.
5. What is your preferred style of bra? Stretchy cup pullover.  I don't need a lot of support and they are easier to conceal.  One is a little bigger than the other.  The one size fits all cups get around that problem.
6. What do you see as the benefits to wearing a bra? Support.  They aren't that big but they hurt if they are not supported.  I started wearing one for mountain biking, now I wear one every day.

Hammer,
You are correct, you are not alone.  My urologist said it is one of the risks, but they just don’t mention it.
Mine may have been a bit more complicated.  I had hernia surgery in 1982 and apparently contracted an infection then.  My right testes hurt from then at a controllable level unitl after my 1998 vasectomy, which put the pain into overdrive.  The piain became so bad it was unbearable.  Then all of a sudden it shrank..sort of deflated...if you will and hurt terribly.  They removed it and said it was dying and was infected.  That was in 2005 or 2006.  In 2012 I was diagnosed with prostate cancer gleason score 8, which was not good.  I had the surgery to remove the prostate and instead of it being a 3 hour surgery it was a 6 hour surgery.  The two years or more prior to that it was believed I had a prostate infection.  As it turns out, the surgeon said it looked like my prostate was infected for 30 years, which is why he struggled so hard to have it removed.  The final pathology was a gleason of 6.  They were baffeled as to where the 8 was, but thought the infection killed the 8 and left the 6.  I imagine both were in there.  Then the next year my left teste started hurting and I had an epiditiectomy in 2016 and the pain subsided. The epiditimus was in very bad shape and looked like it had been streatched to its limits etc.  The next May, just over 1 year later, I had my last teste removed.  I feel so much better. It was dying too, but was not infected.  I was told some men’s bodies do attack the testes if they are no longer attached as they are supposed to (say after the vasectomy).  As my last teste was dying, my T dropped and the ratio between the T and the E gave me some gyno.  I am now a 38C, but my endo does not think I should have them removed at this time becasue she thinks there is a good chance they will return in a year or two.  I am on Androgel and are working on getting that dosage correct.  I tried Finistride (spelling) years prior because of the prostate swelling with the infection, but it quickly started to give me gyno, so my prior urologist took me off of it. If you are still growing, you should think about going off that drug if you are still on it. Best to you! MGR

MRG,
I'm sorry to hear of the crap that you had to go through! Just the chronic pain even manageable for all those years is hard enough, not to even mention the cancer!

As far as going through surgery to remove the breast, I never felt it was a good idea. Without having the testes I didn't think it would be worth while. I had a heart attack right after I stopped getting my HRT injections. We never connect the two together as it was back in 1995 and it wasn't known to happen then. Now you hear all those TV ads about legal actions about it.

We have guys post here on the forum that they feel like a woman on top and a man on bottom!

Well, I don't know about you, but I'm a full 46H on top and I've lost the boys on bottom and I'm still all man!

Hammer,
I am in your camp. I may have breasts, no boys, shirkage, and no ability to function down there, but I still view myself as a man and nothting else.  I have nobody to impress or worry about. I have been married for 36 years, retired early, and just do not have to impress anyone. I shoot guns, walk and carry my golf bag for 18 or 36 holes 130 times a year and can still outhit (distance) 95% of the men my age (59).

Even though I have only had them a couple of years, I have come to accept them as part of me and that is the way it goes.
Best,
MGR

A few years ago we conducted a census of the members about their experiences with having gyno and wearing bras.  Perhaps it's time to conduct an update on the survey.
1. At what age was your onset of gynecomastia? Was there any additional growth after the initial onset and to what extent? It officially began in my early 50s. My current size is substantial (having nothing to do with weight issues).
2. What was the primary cause (ie unresolved hormone imbalance as a teenager, side effect of medication etc)  Age, lowT and prostate issues managed by large Saw Palmetto doses, a slippery slope leading to more potent herbal supplements to promote growth. Google autogynephilia.
3. At what age did you begin to experiment with wearing a bra, at what age did you begin to wear a bra regularly, what is your current age?  Late 50s, after a painful impact incident at a gym, to protect breasts and nipples. Another slippery slope leading to formal bra fittings and full-time wear.
4. What is your bra size? I went from a 40A to a 38D from herbs and lowT.
5. What is your preferred style of bra? Sports, demi and balconette
6. What do you see as the benefits to wearing a bra? Support, protection, comfort and fashion as my shyness has ebbed.

1. At what age was your onset of gynecomastia? Was there any additional growth after the initial onset and to what extent? My growth started in my late 40's but I did not notice it until I was 60. After I came to notice it I ignored it and hid it as best I could...but I kept growing. Went from a 44A to a current 46DDD
 2. What was the primary cause (ie unresolved hormone imbalance as a teenager, side effect of medication etc) The primary cause was hormonal imbalance and since I had a problem with my prostate I took supplements for it which simple fed the growth.
 3. At what age did you begin to experiment with wearing a bra, at what age did you begin to wear a bra regularly, what is your current age? I started wearing a sports bra to hide the growth but that did not last as the growth continued. I started wearing a bra when I was 60 and I am now a young 65.
 4. What is your bra size? It depends on the bra manufacturer. I range from a 46DD to a 46DDD but usually the 46DDD.
 5. What is your preferred style of bra? I like the support I get from underwire bras.
 6. What do you see as the benefits to wearing a bra? Aside from giving me good support, they relieve the upper chest pain, back pain and help me to walk more upright. As a side note: as I have become more accepting of my "assets" I like the shape the underwire bra provides.

1. At what age was your onset of gynecomastia? Was there any additional growth after the initial onset and to what extent?

As a teen.  Some growth, I had a larger areola and nipples than any other boy and puffiness.

2. What was the primary cause (ie unresolved hormone imbalance as a teenager, side effect of medication etc)

No idea, but I liked them, until teasing and shame due to being athletic, i.e. in the showers, and playing shirts against skins.  I dreaded that.

3. At what age did you begin to experiment with wearing a bra, at what age did you begin to wear a bra regularly, what is your current age?  I lived in shame until two weeks ago after reading this forum and The Breast Life, which is outdated.  I never realized so many men were or had been just like me.  I am 63 and love my new breasts.

4. What is your bra size?  Some debate on that.  I went for a fitting but I don't think she was the best.  She said 42C.  The bras I wear the most are 3XL.

5. What is your preferred style of bra?  I don't know the answer to that yet.  The two I like are JMS - just my size, made by Hanes because they are soft.  They don't lift at all.  I need help in this area.  All I know is wearing a bra has changed my life.  I just wish I started sooner because my nipples mostly point down.

6. What do you see as the benefits to wearing a bra?
Total comfort, and confidence.

4. 36B/38A
5.Anything that fits well and is comfortable.
6. Support and comfort.

I just came back on this forum to see if anyone else was experiencing sporadic growth after their initial onset and saw this survey again.  I didn't take the time to answer it when I first saw it; but figured it was time to put my two cents in now.
1. At what age was Your onset of gynecomastia?  Was there any additional growth after the initial onset and to what extent?  My onset was between 56 and 56.  They continue to grow sporadically on an unpredictable schedule of their own.
2. What was the primary cause (ie unresolved hormone imbalance as a teenager, side effect of medication etc)  It was the result of being place on a prednisone regimen for an auto-immune disorder.  I was on the steroid for over a year and a half.  Sometime during that regimen, I noticed that I had breasts.  After weaning myself off of that nasty drug and losing the roid weight, nearly 65 pounds, I found the girls weren't going away.  Now they seem to have a mind of their own and grow whenever they feel like it.
3. At what age did you begin to experiment with wearing a bra, at what age did you begin to wear a bra regularly, what is your current age? I started experimenting with sports bras two years ago at age 57 and started regularly wearing structured bras about age 58.  I'm now 59 soon to be 60.
4. What is your bra size?  I started out wearing a 46A and now I'm down to a 40 band with either C or D cups depending on the manufacturer.  I need to buy more soon; but I'm thinking of waiting to see just how much more growth I'm going to experience.
5. What is your preferred style of bra?  Underwire for sure!  Either minimizers (Bali) or stretch lace cups (Wacoal or Glamorise)
6. What do you see as the benefits to wearing a bra?  First of all support for the girls and they just look less obscene wearing a bra now.  It's a trade off of either bouncing and wobbling breasts or the straps and connectors of having to wear a bra.

4. 36B/38A
5. Padded since it reduces the pain on my right side.
6. Support. comfort and fun

14. Continued slow grow into early 20's to a Type 3 on Cruze Scale. Currently between a Type 4 and 5 on Cruze Scale.

2. What was the primary cause (ie unresolved hormone imbalance as a teenager, side effect of medication etc)

Hormone imbalance as teenager that continues to present day.

16/55/58

38DD

5. What is your preferred style of bra?

Cut and sew underwire bra with a woman's fitted (reducing the bulk and they are MUCH cooler than a man's regular t-shirt) layering tank top (allowing the outer shirt to float over the chest and doesn't mold to the shape of the breasts) under a somewhat loose (almost flowing but not quite, you don't want it to look like the shirt is too big which WILL draw attention to the chest) regular men's outer shirt. It gives better support and a more natural appearing shape since the cup molds to the breast tissue as it lifts and supports and not forcing the tissue to conform to the cup like molded and t-shirt bras do giving your chest a more feminine look in those bras (even though I do have my share of molded and t-shirt bras because there is no one bra that works for every occasion and sometimes having a feminine looking chest isn't a bad thing and sometimes you just have to do what you have to do) and that makes it a little easier to hid even though you aren't easily hiding 38DD's.

Quote
6. What do you see as the benefits to wearing a bra?

Physical comfort and containment of the breast tissue. Like most men I am large root and shallow even in a 38 band and in a DD cup, that is a lot of tissue volume that moves at will. Even though a bra lifts my breast tissue up considerably and does present more projection than when I am bra less, the lack of movement and the support has stopped back pain and the fold under my breasts are considerably dryer now even though boob sweat is more localized under the breast itself like a women's (the fitted layering tank takes the brunt of any boob sweat there) since I started wearing a bra. The instances of being noticed have substantially dropped. Men seem to not notice anymore (lack of movement drawing attention I would suspect) and when women do (not many) it is usually a pleasant smile, or if they hug me, they will do one of two things, they will intentionally put their hand on the hook and eye connection (you can feel the hand hunting) in the small of my back to probably confirm their suspicions (if they don't notice or don't care, the hand goes between the shoulder blades between the straps and the band and they never feel anything other than my breasts into their chest) and either pat it or rub it as an indication to me they know and will either whisper some encouraging words or as they pull away pleasantly smiling almost signifying "I understand your situation". This has given me the unintended bonus of lifting my self-esteem and body image considerably, which for years SUCKED because I hadn't come to terms with my breasts, and has made the psychological effects of wearing a bra much easier to deal with. I now hardly ever think about being in a bra in public or the workplace. It is just a needed piece of clothing and largely has lost its "femininity" as a whole. I have yet to be called out wearing a bra unlike the numerous times I was called out when I was bra less from both males and females. I wish I had started wearing a bra much sooner.

While women who know I wear a bra do not take me into their confidence anymore than before (I am still "the guy"), they do treat me slightly differently knowing I have a glimpse into their world by having to deal with my own breasts. They seem to be more careful where they put their hands on me now, seemingly to avoid the breasts or my bra and to not hug me as tightly as they used to, more of a modified what I call the faux hug you see women do. I don't know if they do this out of an unconscious normal female courtesy or they are not trying to signal anything.

Anyone who has known me for any length of time sees I have a chest. Wearing a bra goes unnoticed for the most part with them and people I don't know, I don't care what they think. I will never have to interact with them anyway. That is emotional baggage I just don't need.

4. What is your bra size?
5. What is your preferred style of bra?
6. What do you see as the benefits to wearing a bra?

1.   I first noticed that my nipples protruded more than other boys at boarding school when I was 8 or 9.  I paid no heed until I joined the Regular Army when I was 21 when again I realised I had "excess tissue" there (but not to any great degree).   Nothing much more developed until I started gaining weight in my 50's and then it has been perhaps only the last 12 years or so that have shown marked growth,

2.   A bit of guesswork here but at age 6 I had a bout of glandular fever which (I was told some 30 years later!) damaged my testes.  It fits with other "conditions" (late onset puberty...15.1/2...lack of male competitive drive etc..).  Guesswork only because I have never consulted a doctor (don't go near them if I can help it).  But I can add two and two to get four as the saying is.

3.  Ten years ago I tried briefly out of curiosity as to whether x-dressing would do anything for me..it didn't...and at that time it wasn't so much as a AA cup as an Aaaatishoo!   Taken to them now over the last month or so (but not for x-dressing).  I am now 69

4.  It would seem to be 46B

5.  Not sure as yet...still experimenting.

6.  Comfort, support,  perhaps just a tiny bit of "hidden naughty fun".

1. At what age was your onset of gynecomastia? Was there any additional growth after the initial onset and to what extent?

I believe I noticed it when I was 10 or 11 years old.  There was growth for sure.  Basically, my breasts grew at the same time as girls in my class.  From junior high until the time I graduated from high school, my breasts were bigger than 75% of the girls in my class.

2. What was the primary cause (ie unresolved hormone imbalance as a teenager, side effect of medication etc)

Unresolved hormone issues as a preteen.

3. At what age did you begin to experiment with wearing a bra, at what age did you begin to wear a bra regularly, what is your current age?

I never tried on a bra as a teenager, but I wondered how one would feel on me.  I should have been wearing a bra in my teen years and would have been more comfortable for me.  I began wearing a bra at 50.  I'm 51.

4. What is your bra size?

42C or 40D
5. What is your preferred style of bra?

Underwire demi cup or unlined lace cup bras

6. What do you see as the benefits to wearing a bra?

For me, it provides comfortable and managing the movement.  I knew that my breasts moved and jiggled a lot, but it wasn't until I started wearing a bra regularly that realized how much movement there is.  So that's why I usually put a bra shortly after I get out of bed.  I feel I'm more confident because is less movement, even though I project a bit.  The reality is that I can't hide C or D cup breasts, so I'm just trying to be comfortable.  I should have done it sooner.  Having an understanding wife, 2 boys and "work wives" helped a lot.

1. At what age was your onset of gynecomastia? Was there any additional growth after the initial onset and to what extent?

First noticed 'something" different at 51. Now at 53 they have grown out and round. Though in hindsight site, they were actually noticeable around 49

2. What was the primary cause (ie unresolved hormone imbalance as a teenager, side effect of medication etc)

No clue, except that one doctor told me at 16 that it would happen around 50. He was correct. There are also other "indications" that there may be more female aspect than I was aware of.

3. At what age did you begin to experiment with wearing a bra, at what age did you begin to wear a bra regularly, what is your current age?
52.       53.

4. What is your bra size?  44B heading to 44C

5. What is your preferred style of bra?  padded sports bra, with racer style or "T" back. over the shoulder just isn't comfortable.

6. What do you see as the benefits to wearing a bra?
Support that prevents the "dragging" sensation when bare. Also protection (padding) because of allt he physical things I do.

11 or 12 noticed I was chesty at the pool. I experienced growth thru puberty and could pass the pencil test at 14. Had some more growth in my late 50’s and have continued slow growth.

2. What was the primary cause (ie unresolved hormone imbalance as a teenager, side effect of medication etc)

No idea, was told to just lose weight at that time, I was chunky but not really fat. Currently, I am on a prostate med but don’t think that’s the whole reason because recent hormone tests show an interesting profile.

3. At what age did you begin to experiment with wearing a bra, at what age did you begin to wear a bra regularly, what is your current age?

Tried a halter top as a teen but stopped that. Reexperimented at 59/60. Regularly at 61, best thing ever! 61

4. What is your bra size?

Currently 40DD.

5. What is your preferred style of bra?

Underwire tee shirt.

6. What do you see as the benefits to wear a bra?

Comfort, containment and concealment.
