Hello,

I had very small lumps from steroid use under my nipples that were not too noticeable initially. I have recently started finasteride for hair loss and these lumps have grown in size to the point that I need to have them removed. I was aware before starting this medication that since it lowers DHT and subsequently increases estrogen levels, it would likely make this happen.

I am not willing to get off the medication. Would there be any problem getting gyno surgery? The reason I am asking is because the lumps are still growing as my body is getting used to the medication. Should I wait until the size plateaus and then have the removal so that any extra tissue that is left doesn't grow? Or can I safely have the surgery immediately and not have them grow back?

Let me know if my question was unclear. Thank you for your time.

Edit: I now see after searching that it is possible for a recurrence. Is there any other option?

Propecia can cause gynecomastia and surgery followed by continued use of propecia can result in a recurrence.
