OK i'm 20 i have had the condition since i was 11. I have never had problems taking my shirt off through basketball or football practice in highschool like other guys but i guess its cause some of the guys were huge on the team I'm pretty bad though. The trainers at the gym i go to say if i get my body fat low it will reduce and i dont need surgery cause its just fat but i know i need surgery cause they didn't even know what Gynecomastia was and weight loss wouldn't help it.  College is to high and i cant afford it right now.  i have a bad camera so pics aren't that gr8.

how bad am i???  thanks be honest
im 5-11   175
15% body fat

Looks like a case of glandular gyne.  Excision surgery, with the right doc, should get rid of it and make you FLAT.

Don't listen to BLATINO. He's a homo who just looks to confuse people.

If you found this site its because it bothers you. If you can enjoy life with gyne (like you said in High School) then perhaps you can get by in life with it.

If you decide that gyne isn't for you, then surgery is the only way that you will get rid of that.

Have you noticed any continual growth? Or, did it grow to a certain point and then just stop?

If it is still growing then you should have your hormones checked.

LOL.......NO i been the same way forever i have never seen growth. My left side is a little bigger than my right side though. But i was doing some research today and i read that you should always get your body fat 10% or below before you do surgery. Even if that doesn't help im gonna do it just to live a more healthy life.
I have noticed that if my nipples get a little hard its goes alll the way down...weird. I dont feel the balls/marbles or anything floating around when i feel around my nipples or chest area but it feels flat....idk.

But what would you classify me as...

 Less, Middle, or excessive/severe??

I'd say your condition is moderate. My wasn't as bad as yours and I didn't want to live with it.

From the sound of it, your condition is mostly glandular. This is evidenced by it looking "almost normal" when the areolas get hard.

That spells "gland."

The guys at the gym do know what they're talking about.

They've seen this over and over and over, as I have.

Get yourself into lean hard shape, and the increased testosterone will take over.

Has an M.D. told you that you have a case of gynecomastia (definition: woman-like breasts)?

K THANXX STILLgotIT....

YEAH ROB i think they may have a point that working out will decrease some, i dont care if it goes all the way down i just want it down a little.

And no a M.D. has said i have it i just assume i do because the glan problem STILLgotIT WAS TALKING about and i use to be a real skinny kid when i was younger and they pointed out in my mind even though nobody noticed or cared to look. I havent been checked for it..

but i look alot like this guy....

Explain to me why I still have it after 3 years of weightlifting and why many doctors say weightlifting makes it worse because it pushes the gland out further?

As for the 10% body fat that sounds rather low but I don't really know much about that to say anything else.

Your case of gyne looks very minor and I don't think weightlifting will help, after all look at these cases:
http://plasticsurgery4u.com/procedure_folder/male_breast/gynecomastia_body_building.html
http://plasticsurgery4u.com/procedure_folder/male_breast/gyno_bodybuilding.html

Don't expect weightlifting to help, at all.

Oh yeah i know Yoshi but i read on some other sites were guys say it helped them. I think the only how its pushed out is if you focus on to much chest work and im not gonna do that. Weightlifting is there but my main focus is cardio 2 times a day and a diet to lower fat. I thought 10% was low to but the trainers say it perfectly healthy if you do it the right way. Every trainer there BF is below 10%.

I know its a good chance it might not work but at least i will have a more healthy lifetyle.

  THanks for the reply!!

BF 10% is healthy but I'm saying I don't think you need to go that low for surgery but I'm no expert. And although weightlifting pushes out the gland I have personally noticed by chest seems to look more muscular after a workout or just bigger...then again I have a worse case gyne than you do.

i fell into the same trap - i focused almost solely on chest (dips, declines, flat bench, flys), and i only saw my chest get bigger.

i've realized the reason so many people suggest weightlifting is that it boosts testosterone levels, which in turn, may decrease body fat (the magic of T). more muscle also means less of your food intake will be put into fat (it'll be used to feed the growing muscle), so all things equal, if you eat the same amount, you'll be burning more of it, rather than storing more of it as fat.

the key then - as bay224 pointed out - is all around muscle building - arms, legs, etc (lower body, actually, results in the most gains the fastest - our legs can handle so much more weight than our upper bodies - and i've read that lower body workouts boost T more than some upper body workouts)

i wish i knew this two years ago, but i think if you have a balanced workout routine, if anything, do maybe low weights, but high reps for chest, and not focus solely on chest exercises, the T will kick in, the body will lean out, the chest won't get too protrusive, muscle in other parts of the body will grow, and overall body fat decreases. this may then help with reducing the fat in the chest (of course, no way to spot reduce it).

If the glandular garbage has been in there for a long time, as mine had, it doesn't matter how much testosterone you're producing.  My hormones were just like a normal guy who lifted a lot of weights, and my glands didn't get any smaller--they had been in there so long that surgery was the only option.
