i have been visiting and reading topics on this site for over a year now, but this will be my first post.

i really had a bad case of gyno since the age of 13-14. i never wore t-shirts in public since that young age, and always was feeling low about my self, i m 28 years of age now and i m on 5th day post surgery! i m from newzealand and this condition can be done free with the public health system.

but the cutting technique they told me they would use was different from what i had read here about the surgery and they would have to cut the bottom half of the aerola AND about 2 cm to the sides of the aerola.

so i thought i would go see a specialist plastic surgeon and he confirmed with me that there was no need to cut 2cm side of the aerola and only the normal technique was enough to remove the gyno.

now i m on my 5th day post op, and i m feeling great, the surgery did cost me $9000 but its well worth it getting it done with a specialist.

i have been given 2 compression vests they are firmly tight, and i have been told its for the best.
when i take a shower i look at the mirror and its like totally new chest that i m not use to it, its still really numb and i get little tweaks or shivers every now and then in the chest area, i have been told by the surgeon its the nerves trying to rebuild and its totally normal.

i do have some brusing mainly on the sides of the chest underneath the armpit...and it the only thing i m not sure if its alright, the bruising is of red color surrounded by alot of yellow color and i m scared might be getting hematoma...but so far it looks alright.

overall i m happy with the results, i have alot of recovery infront of me, but it does look promising,

and finally i want to thank everyone who posted stories and gave info/help on these forums. it helped me so much to just read those topics and get the strength to do something about my situation.

i will add photos but first i have to get some copies from my surgoen of before photos. as i never ever took any photos my man boobs  :P

Congrats on your surgery!

If your experience is like mine, the bruising cleared up very rapidly. It kinda surprised me.

ty ddh,

loving the new lifestyle its so much fun to wake up and not worry about how many layers of baggy clothes to wear, its unbelievable feeling of been free from something that was  putting you down 24/7,.. and the bruising it is not painful to touch anymore and i think now it will just take time for them to dissapear. but wondering how long after surgery did you one take to start dissapearing?

1 question i have for anyone who can help me. how long  till i stop putting bandages/dressing on my scar/chest. i usually replace the old ones after shower just incase water got in and needs to be dryed out and put new one after that.

"how long after surgery did you one take to start dissapearing?"

I couldn't really remember, so I took a look at some of my old progress pics. Looks to me that all of my visible bruising was gone after two weeks, and I no longer had bandages on the lipo incisions by then either (I didn't have areola incisions).

Hope this info helps!

Glad you are pleased. Give it time. I am 6 weeks post op with lipo and gland removal (half moon incisions around the aeriola). The incisions are almost undetectable. The hardness has diminished and at my follow up appointment last week the doc told me there is still some healing and swelling that should diminish. I should be close to the final result in the next 6-10 weeks. Be patient, follow instructions, this is the best money I ever spent. To wake up in the morning and not have to wear an undershirt 3 sizes too small for 'support' while I taped my nipples down (yes I did that too) was so worth it. Good Luck.

thank you guys.

day 10, everything going very smoothly, back to most of my normal activities, still bruising and little swollen but nothing out of the ordinary, took the bandages off yesterday and i have red marks and very itchy where the bandages where, hopefully everyone experienced the same thing and the red marks aren't of any concern.
