If anyone is interested in episode 7 of season 1 of nip/tuck, "Cliff Mantegna",  there is a guy who goes to the PS to get gynecomastia surgery done and there is a 30 seconds graphic scene where they show how they perform the surgery. The one thing that I thought was odd was when the surgeon said "the gynecomastia procedure you need to fix those is extremely painful..." and he tries to talk the guy out of it but then again its a television show  :) Speaking from experience the procedure is either not all that painful or the pain medication was really strong  ;)

im pretty sure i remember reading somewhere that fairly recently (past 5-10 years) they have really improved the method of gynecomastia surgery. Apparantly there used to be a more painful and crude way of operating.  ???

Now , they have improved it a lot due to the increase in the amount of men who are going to get the surgery. Maybe Nip/Tuc was dipicting the old method of surgery.

Nip / Tuck is a terrible representation of plastic surgery reality.

Comfort after surgery depends on the problem treated, skill of the surgeon, surgical technque, patient education, after care, how you heal, and other factors.  Although I give each of my patients a prescription for strong oral medication, most take mainly just plain Tylenol after my sculpture.  On that link you can read typical patient experiences from my techniques.
