At my last post-op appt. w/ my ps 3 weeks ago the Dr. agreed that in 2mnths he would perform a revision to remove whatever gland/hard tissue is left under my nipple which at the moment is about the size of a gumball on both sides. He said he can perform this in his office thru local anesthesia thru a small incision under the nipple. That said from what I have read in this forum it seems that it would be rare to perform an excision under local only, but then again it also seems that there are very few cases of excision only ops it always seems to be accompanied by lypo which offcourse would almost require the patient to be under general. I didnt put much thought into it during the visit  but now I am a bit concerned especially of the possible pain. What you guys think?

i dont know if this would help you but over in some people's surjury experiences i have read a few of which the person just had the whole surjury of excision under local ana only. And i read one that even said he was talking to the doctor a little bit and you don't even look down on where they are operating so it is really just like laying down.

As for pain i have no idea, i wouldn't think he would perform a surjury with local if their was a slight possiblity of you feeling pain because lets face it, his ass would be sued and he'd be liable for a bunch of stuff if he even ran the risk or did the surjury with you feeling pain.

So i see this as a win win situation for you :D lol.

I rarely excise gland alone and prefer my Dynamic Technique targeting gland first and then using other elements of my artist's pallet to sculpt the remaining tissue.  Revision Gynecomastia Surgery can be complex and demanding.

I have not needed general anesthesia for my male chest sculpture for many years.  For my patients needing skin alone nipple reduction, I offer local anesthesia alone option.  With tumescent techniques, I have evolved a better system under local with heavy sedation.  Without the sedation, there are just too many possible problems.

Some surgeons use general with tumescent techniques. Some use general alone.  I found that general anesthesia can leave patients with a higher chance of nausea and discomfort after surgery.

Each surgeon has his / her preferences about anesthesia.  I typically use local with heavy sedation.  That is not general anesthesia, but the patient is not awake.  We use medications injected into an IV for this sedation.  That is how we help keep our patients comfortable for most types of gynecomastia chest sculpture.  Sedation itself is an art.  I will use local anesthesia alone when performing actual nipple reduction surgery.

You can look at other posts here in this forum where anesthesia and sedation are discussed:

I prefer to perform tumescent anesthesia with sedation over general anesthesia or local anesthesia alone for most types of male chest sculpture. We take the comfort of our patients very seriously. You can find a number of posts here in this forum where patients describe their anesthesia experiences under this local anesthesia with sedation:

I had excision only with local and it was a piece of cake.  I just didnt look down any and had like a 15 minute conversation w/ my P.S. and it was done. No pain at all, drove to and from his office. I would go for it.
