Board Certified means that those surgeons' practices are regulated by that Institution. There plastic surgeons that for one reason or another are not Board Certified. This is why it is CONSTATLY recommended on this board to go to a Board Certified PS.

Board Certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery is the PINNACLE of professional recognition for anyone trained in plastic surgery.  It represents not only appropriate training but satisfactory completion of a series of examinations, both oral and written, and demonstration of competency through peer recognition of representative cases.

You can check out your surgeon's credentials to see if he is certified by going to the following website.  The ASPS (American Society of Plastic Surgeons) will accept as members only those surgeons who are Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.  www.plasticsurgery.org
