Did anyone else here get their nipples taped after surgery, to splint the scar and prevent stretching of it?
I have to have mine tapped for 3 months and its getting on my nerves a bit.  I'll put up with it though but it'd be nice to know that im not the only one
Surgery done 18th March 2008

I've never heard of anyone having to keep tape on the scars for three months - after surgeries I've had (both the GRS and other), I was told to just keep them on until they fell off on their own.  After just like 10 days, a suture is healed enough that it can stay together by itself.

Are you sure these aren't silicone sheets the doctor wants you to keep on the scars?  Those are supposed to be he best to minimize the appearance of the scar in the end, and those you keep on for around three months.

yeah, they are the silicon sheet things.  well not exactly, the silicon sheets were irritating my skin causing it to redden slightly, so they gave me these other sheet-like things that are kind of like, gauze on one side but sticky
