Guide to Post Surgery Healing?

Hi everyone,
Had my surgery yesterday with Dr. Craig Fielding and was wondering about post surgery healing and tips and tricks that can help.
I'm following his instructions, which are to leave the compression vest with sponges underneath on and no showering until my follow up which is Tuesday.
Just wondering if there's anything else I should be doing? Pain levels are very low, I was prescribed Percocet but have yet to take any. 
Key thing I'm looking for is advice on are ways up reducing swelling, quickening the healing of bruises, and helping scars heal.
