when to start massaging scar tissue

im just about 3 months post op... i still have slight scarring and still have hard tissue were incision was.  How long should i expect to have this hard tissue? should i massage it to help it heal? any techniques or suggestions?  Thanks

I am one month post op and was recommended by doctor to start massaging the scars with Mederma.  I believe you should also.

my doc asked me to massage after my bandages off the incisions come off which is 2 wks from surgery.  Its been a week and I can finally start massaging myself in that area without any pain.  I will still wait until the bandages come off.  He said to just go around in circles or simple massaging.
