Is there any correlation between gynecomastia and fertility since they both deal with certain hormones?  For instance if a person with gynecomastia decided to live with the condition could he still have children without difficulty?

There are conditions which are associated with gynecomastia, that may also be associated with fertility problems.  The best known of these is Kleinfelter's Syndrome, in which case a man has an extra "X" chromosome.  Normally, men have one X and one Y chromosome, and women have two X chromosomes.  The extra X in patients with Kleinfelter's results in a number of clinical features including gynecomastia. The presence or absence of gynecomastia will not impact fertility, but a work-up would be indicated to determine the cause of both conditions in order to design a treatment plan.

If you have gynecomastia from puberty (or related to steroid or medication use, for example) and in the absence of other problems, neglecting the gynecomastia should not impact fertility.

Thanks mine seems to be idiopathic despite the onset not occurring until I was 21, far outside of puberty.  My biggest concern has really been the ability to still have children.

You could probably have your sperm analyzed to be sure it's normal, but if you don't have any reason to question that other than the fact that you have had gynecomastia, I'd just wait until you have the chance to give it a go and see what spectacular offspring you can produce!

I have had Gynecomastia since early puberty.

I have 8 children, 25 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.

How fertile would you want to be?
